October 9, 20232 yr Is there a way to use the MAP in X-Plane 12 to build a flight plan? I have never been able to go to locations that were not within the default map view/range of the aircraft. Yes, I know there are programs outside of X-P like Sim-brief that build flight plans but now it seems you need a subscription to use it. For many years, MS flight sims allowed you to go anywhere in the world map without moving your aircraft while flight planning or looking for a airport identifier. If X-P allowed us to move further off the default area around the aircraft, I believe we would not need to rely on external programs to flight plan, I would like to hear your thoughts on whether this might improve the X-P simulation and ease of use when trying to flight plan. October 9, 20232 yr which aircraft tho? e.g. for the sparky744 you can get a full flightplan loaded into the FMC automatically via acars just by initiallising the acars system. For G530 and G1000 systems, setting up a flight plan and modfying it realistically during a flight is a good chunk of what people use XP for. for PPL training you wont really touch any flight computer other than these things AutoATC Developer
October 9, 20232 yr Hello, i think you can use X-Plane ATC to create a flightplan, but you cannot change it on the map. Because of this, I use LittleNavMap, a freeeware. Here you can create a flightplan, changes could be made on map. You can store the flightplan and load it in the Navigationsystem/FMS. Also you habe a flyingmap. For flightplaning you get the Weather from the Sim and you have a fuelplanning tool. October 11, 20232 yr Author Thanks to all that took the time to view and respond. A long time ago before we all had personal computers, rooms filled with computers were needed to create basic simulation. As newer tech was needed and developed, they just added on to the main system instead of adding to it. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not. I saw this on the F-4E and F-111D sims. Adding a new system to verses making a complete total sim update was never quite the same. So it still goes today, lots of neat stuff can be added on but it still is not as if it was there from the start. Terry
