I have noticed of late that the 2 radio frequencies that normally show in the interface window, from time to time just randomly disappear and I loose coms. When I try to manually assign them again from the Frequency menu, it takes a few clicks for the action to be registered . All very clunky. 

I am currently on beta ‘i’ I believe, or at least the latest one.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong, as I have not seen this before.

I was flying from EGPD, but have noticed the issue in other locations as well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated as it really breaks the flow and immersion.

I am running XP11.55

That most likely is a problem with the SIM connection.  XPUIPC in the case of X-Plane.

The radio frequencies are read from the SIM regularly and if the connection is down when the read is attempted, it could result in the frequency being null, which would show the frequency as "- - -- "

If this is happening, the P2A log file will usually show the temporary disconnect.

When you change frequency, the change is sent to the SIM and then read on the next read from the SIM.  Again, if the connection is down and then reconnects, it will appear as though you had to set it several times.

P2A Log files are located in:

I don't see any errors or disconnects in the log file and the problem is not affecting the entire user community.

How are you changing the frequencies?  Normally they would be changing in the Com1Stby freq window and then swapped to active.  

Are you using P2A to set the frequency or doing it in the aircraft?

 

Have you turned off the SIM options that control frequency setting?

XP 12 has an option to have X-Plane set all radio frequencies.  If  that option is checked, P2A will not be able to change frequencies at all.  You have to uncheck the box "Auto-tune recommended frequencies".

In MSFS, you need to turn off all the ATC Assists, especially the one related to communicatons.

 

Have you tried other aircraft?  Try a basic GA aircraft included with your SIM to rule out issues with the way the aircraft is handling Com radios.

Thanks Dave, I have noticed that the radio frequencies in the aircraft don't change when P2AtC changes them automatically. I am using the Toliss A319 in XP11...maybe this has something to do with it..Will investigate.

I reported this behavior to Toliss but their response lacking.  They don't read the frequencies only set with aircraft.  It is a display thing only.  the frequency really does change.

Sorry to say it is me again.

Last night I did a flight from EGPD to EINN in the Toliss A319 in XP11, no problem and P2ATC ran flawlessly. Tonight tried the exact sample flight, however when I went to get my taxi clearance (up to that point all OK) I noticed no chatter and then I looked on the frequency screen both showing .00. The radio panel in the aircraft was showing the right frequencies. This time when I tried to change the frequency in the P2ATC UI, nothing happened, they wouldn't change.

The flight was still running and no other obvious issues. At a bit of a loss....I am really getting in to the A319 so just a wee bit frustrating.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Trying the version of XPUIPC that is accessed via your link in the manual..I had been using a different version... let's see.

That might do it.  Some versions of XPUIPC have issues.

Also, some aircraft don't let you change frequencies from external programs and you have to set them from the cockpit.

XP-12 also has a setting where it controls the frequencies and these have to be turned off.
