RTX 3080 TI almost unflyable

Featured Replies

Hi there, I have always 30 fps even into the menu, there is no fps lock anywhere. The game is almost unplayable.
Someone can help me with some troubleshooting ?

My rig is Ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb ram, dedicated m.2 pciex 1tb hdd, rtx 3080ti, reverb G2.
This pc is dedicated to sim, only fs2020 and dcs.

I use no mods. no settings in ncp, only openxr toolkit, almost all high settings.
I use afterburner with a mild oc, no ctd at all.

Please help

Hi maggiolo72, not sure what you want to express. "30 fps, unflyable"? What could be a problem with that? If you are human then your eyes/brain cannot discriminate more than 25 pictures per second, absolutely smooth then. Maybe you mean stutters; these are in no way related to fps.

Happy landings, Fritz

Hi, fixed 30fps into menu is a nonono, appened before. Then inside the sim is 30fps with stuttering but a couple of moth ago was around 45fps with no problem at all

I agree with @Pegaso that, on its own, the 30fps shouldn't be an issue.

BUT a drop from 45 to 30 - assuming nothing else has changed in your settings, hardware or updates/addons - certainly is.

If you have changed something since the 45fps, then clearly that is the first thing I would check.

But if nothing has changed, then I would start by looking at temperatures.  If either the GPU or CPU are getting too hot, they will start throttling back to protect themselves.  And the 3080Ti does run hot in any case.

It is worth making sure nothing is getting clogged up with dust, etc.  A quick check can be made simply by taking the desktop side off and seeing if it makes a difference.

The link is for the Flightsimulator forum......

Anyway:

Once you have it uninstalled, do this before reinstalling:

Open Start.

Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result, and select the Run as administrator option.

Type the following command to repair the Windows 10 image and press Enter: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Windows really needs to be in absolute tip top condition for MSFS.

The things that made the most difference performance wise for me with the 3070 are all Windows tweaks and you can find them with a little googling:

NDU registry change
Disable HPET
De-bloat Windows using the Chris Titus script

I skip the part of De-Blot at the moment
