Today (Thursday, November 23) is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Many members of our team are celebrating this holiday by spending time with their families, so today’s Development Update will be abbreviated. We will return with a full Development Update next week on Thursday, November 30.

As a reminder, our next Developer Livestream is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29 at 10:30am PST (1830 UTC). It will be broadcast live on our Twitch channel, but if you are unable to watch the panel of Jorg, Seb, Martial, and special guests in real-time, we will also upload the archived video to our YouTube channel within a day or two of the initial broadcast. We will also post a written summary on our forums.

We are currently running a Black Friday Sale in the Marketplace. For 5 Days starting on November 23rd, save up to 93% on more than 1750 items! To purchase these discounted items, visit the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace, select ‘Featured’, scroll down to ‘Special Offers’, then select ‘See All’ and look for the savings.

To anyone who has not yet purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator, now is a great time to jump in! All versions are currently on sale for 40% off the regular price! On Xbox and the Windows Store, this sale runs until November 30th. On Steam, the sale ends on November 28th.

To our players celebrating Thanksgiving today, we wish you and your families safe travels and a holiday filled with warmth and joy. Here on the MSFS Team, we are grateful for you, the players and fans in the flight simming community! Your passion for Microsoft Flight Simulator continually motivates and inspires us.

COMMUNITY FLY-IN FRIDAY

Community Fly-In: Aviation History Month. Friday November 24th 1900z. www.twitch.tv/msfsofficial

November is Aviation History Month! To celebrate, our Community Fly-In this week will be to a location where historic and vintage aircraft of all shapes and sizes are preserved and displayed for all to enjoy, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC!

We will depart from LaGuardia Airport in New York, fly on a southwesterly heading over Manhattan and past the Statue of Liberty, then onwards to Philadelphia and Baltimore for touch and go landings. We will then tour the DC area, including flying over the National Mall and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

Since this flight is a celebration of aviation history, we suggest using one of the many vintage aircraft available in Microsoft Flight Simulator. You can see a list of the aircraft on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum here. Many of these planes are available in the sim.

For the best experience, make sure you have downloaded and installed the free World Update II and World Update X from the Marketplace.

Event details are available here. All are welcome to participate!

TUBELINER TUESDAY

Tubeliner Tuesday: Scandinavian 737 Farewell - November 28 @ 1800Z. twitch.tv/msfsofficial

Tubeliner Tuesday Episode 6 takes us back into Scandinavia once again, this time to celebrate the final Boeing 737 flight operated by Scandinavian Airlines (SAS)! Departing Stockholm Arlanda (ESSA), and arriving into Oslo Gardermoen (ENGM), Chewwy will be flying this flight in the PMDG Boeing 737-700 on the VATSIM Multiplayer Network.

Event details are available here. Feel free to follow the flight on our Twitch channel!

COMMUNITY VIDEO

For this week’s Community Video we join Flight Sim Passion on a journey to the smallest runway in the world that a Boeing 787 operates in Dzaoudzi, Mayotte. With only a 1900 metre long runway and terrain on the approach path, there is little room for error!

Continuing onto La Réunion afterwards, Flight Sim Passion expertly handles the Dreamliner for this epic multi-sector trip.
