Question about C-160 by Azurpoly

Featured Replies

Hello, I just discovered the C-160 Transall by Azurpoly and I'm just wondering if it's a good quality airplane.  I never heard of this developer before.  Visually it looks fantastic, description says it uses 8k textures.  It says in the description that a lot of systems are modeled which is what I want.  My main concern is the flight model, I'm kind of picky about that and it doesn't mention anything about that in the product description.  It doesn't need to be perfect but I want something that's at least close to real world.

I hate those Captain Sim type airplanes where hardly anything is modeled and they also use generic flight models that are nowhere near realistic.  Does anyone know how accurate the flight modelling is and how well the systems are implemented for this airplane?

Thanks

Are you familiar with the real C160’s flight model?

I’ve not dug into the systems on this other than starting the APU, but I’ve taken it on a couple of low level runs through Scotland.

I really like this aircraft, it flies as I think it would , big , heavy , and noisy, it’s great in VR.

If you’re after a slightly antiquated military transport, it’s a good one !

There’s some YouTube stuff by Jonathan Beckett , it’s now got the ability to drop parachutists and cargo !

Of course not, that's a ridiculous question, but I do know how to compare performance numbers of the model to real world aircraft if I need to.  Just because I'm not a RL pilot (though I've done multiple discovery flights in real planes)  doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between a good flight model and a bad one.  It's not necessary to fly the real thing to get a feel for what an aircraft should fly like.

For one thing, I ask around, like I'm doing here to get feedback from others and I have many years of experience flight simming flying aircraft in many different simulators that are well known to have very realistic flight dynamics and performance which allows me to get a good feel for what to expect from an aircraft and what it should feel like.  You learn certain things of which to look for and expect after flying a lot of aircraft with high quality flight models.

Very interesting video, it's a great one to watch and learn the basics of the plane.  it does look like a lot of systems are modeled and it does look really nice.  I do love older aircraft and I like military transport aircraft like this one though generally I fly civil aircraft and save the military planes for combat flight simulators.  It's not overly expensive so I think it's worth a try.  Thanks so much for your input, I appreciate it.

You're welcome, I think I bought it from the marketplace when it was on discount, but at full price I would have been more than happy with it.

I once got onboard one of these for a look around when I was working in Asia, it's an aircraft that had always interested me, but even without the personal interest I'd still say it was a great add on. I hope you enjoy, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

If you want to further investigate before purchase you can get the manual from here AzurPolyC160ManualRev11.pdf (azurpolygroup.com)
