“Heavy” Plane Add Ons?

Recommended Posts

I have noticed in the competing sim that certain nice add on planes seem to have a MASSIVE FPS cost for some reason.

That said, I’ve also noticed pauses/stutters when flying certain MSFS aircraft.

Maddog MD82 is a disaster (on my rig at least) - no go,

The JustFlight BAe146 isn’t as bad but also seems prone to lags and pauses that the default biz jets don’t in the same exact scenarios?

The PMDG planes seem silky smooth, as does my Shorts 360.

So, I’m wondering...what are the “heaviest” planes in terms of CPU/FPS load?

And what are the “lightest” add ons?

And how are the JustFlight F28 and new Lear 35 in this department? 🙂

Steve

I had the Maddogs and the PMDG 737 as lightweight. Fenix A320 and the iniBuilds/Asobo A310 are the ones I've found as heaviest. Also the ATR is heavy on FPS, when using the synthetic vision feature.

Lightweight? Maybe any default/Carenado GA plane, or the default 748 and 787.

Yeah, you're the first one I remember saying the Maddog is so heavy. The 310 gets kinda jittery sometimes, and I don't have it but I've seen a lot of people complain about framerates with the Fenix A320.

Bearing in mind that I've got my system up to the point where I very rarely stutter outside of major metro areas, the new Lear 35 is smooth as glass for me, which is especially good considering it's not even finished yet.
