No there is not, I'm afraid Real live aviation works with pressure altitudes (flight levels based on 1013, and real pressure below transition altitude). There is no GPS altitude in the ADS-B data.

It's Flightbeam KDEN and the airport altitude in the xml file is the same as Little Nav Map was showing for planes on the ground (5367 ft).

I thought there might have been something weird last night with my MSFS, so I tried again just now and moved the sim time back to 1 Feb 2024 at 1250 or so local time. Same problem, planes landing early by quite a bit. I took a video, but it didn't come out right because the area that it recorded didn't include the whole screen. I will attach it below anyway. QNH 1005.5 and everything landing way short.

Then I moved to real time and the QNH is 995.5. Here too the planes were landing short as well, although not quite as short as before. Same problem with the recording, but I will attach it second.

Yesterday, when I first saw this, I had started PSXT after not using it for a few weeks. I got all my parked traffic showing and the status screen for PSXT was showing quite a few live aircraft, but I had no movement anywhere in the airport nor in the air (ie - just parked aircraft). I figured it was acting weird because I hadn't used it in a while, so I quit PSXT and immediately restarted. At that point, I quickly got my parked aircraft and I got moving traffic as well, which is when I noticed that they were all landing short.

Just now, with live weather and without any sim time offset, I launched the sim again to get a good recording. Again, I launched PSXT and had parked aircraft, and while the status screen showed live aircraft, there were none moving in the airport nor in the air. So, like yesterday, I quit PSXT and immediately relaunched it. Like yesterday, I did get moving aircraft as well as parked aircraft. Here are the screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/KK3lVyA

LNM takes that value from the same fairport file as PSXT, so that's logical. However, in real live KDEN's elevation is 5433 ft.

Change the value in FlightBeams KDEN.xml and see what happens.

I will change the value in your archive XML to see what happens. It seems counterintuitive to me, though, that moving the field elevation up would cause the planes to land longer. Anyway, I will try it shortly.

It made no difference. I went back to the same date and time I've looked at previously and the problem is still there. I changed the altitude in your archive XML file ("PSXT\airports\archive\thirdparty\Flightbeam\KDEN.xml" which is the file referenced in my_thirdparty folder, but LNM still showed all the parked planes at the wrong elevation.

 

Do I also need to remove the Learned file? I will try that as well.

No, that didn't make a difference either. All parked planes are showing the old altitude, despite the log file showing the updated altitude:

Parked planes have no altitude, they are just placed on the ground.

Try a different airport. KDEN has strange altitude changes for certain runways about 500 meters before the runway. That may confuse the height above ground measurements PSXT does.,

I'll just write it off to strangeness related to the altitude reporting, the lack of an AGL altitude in the ADS-B datat and/or barometric issues .

I think you might be right about altitude changes at KDEN. I observed traffic landing at 35L and 35R and it all landed fine. I also observed traffic in the opposite direction (17R and 16L) landing well short.

In the first case, the elevation before the apron is either close to or slightly above the apron. In the second case, the elevation before the apron is lower than the apron. So, if PSXT is using some kind of calculated AGL, it could throw it off.

Finally, changing the altitude of the XML doesn't make a difference unless I drop it below the ground level (I did so by 250 feet, just to test) and it left the landing planes high up in the air, correcting once they had slowed down enough to be considered on the ground.
