Adding a second graphics card

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm currently running six screens off my 4090 and two motherboard display outputs. I use the 4090's three display ports for the main MSFS displays and the other three displays for other various things.

I'd like to add another couple of touch screens and purchased a USB C to display port adapter in the hope I could get another couple of screens through USB-C connection but alas it didn't work (perhaps because I'm already using the two motherboard graphics ports). So now I'm thinking of adding another cheaper NVIDIA graphics card (perhaps a 3060 or 4060).

What I've never been able to get my head around is PCI-E lanes. I'm not using any any M2 drivers and the 4090 is the only card i have in one of my PCI slots...but I fear that if I plug in another PCI card in the form of a 3080 that will drag performance away from my 4090.

Can anybody assist or point me in the direction of useful info about PCI-E lanes etc? 🙂

Cheers

I use USB adopter with DisplayLink working without problem.

However before that I tried to use another adopter with it's own driver, that doesn't work, so maybe check you got a good adopter to start with.
