MiniFCU // A320 swap procedure?

Featured Replies

so I jumped water and followed one of easyjetsimpilot's youtube videos to make my MiniFCU work with the Fenix. All fine, just enroute EHAM to EFHK, works like a charm. the setup procedure was pretty straight forward execpt that mobiflight v10 does not require the beta version anymore to run/recognize the miniFCU and I needed to manually assign an "orphaned module" to get all the lights working.

Anyway, knowing that this is not the HW section and this is prone to be moved in another section (mods, feel free!) let me start here as this is where I spend 99.9% of my avsim airtime:

is there an option to "easily" swap between the Fenix320 and FBW320? Easyjetsimpilot still mentioned that I need to (hardware) reset the miniFCU each time to be able to use it with its DataLinkSoftware for the FBW. However, I am sure I read somewhere - and of course forgot where, hence my request here - that I can nowadays easily swap it the configs within Mobiflight?

Again, apologies, not fond of Discord (mobiflight support), lazy duck here hoping that some knowledgeable fellow pilot just jumps in to help me

Correct.

Download the particular airliner profile for Mobiflight from FS.to and save it into a folder you can easily locate.

Not at my sim PC right now, but (IIRC), all you need to do is open the relevant airliner file you just downloaded in Mobiflight, a small pop-up window appears. Then, click on the only line of text in the windowpane, followed by clicking on 'Assign'. Back on the main Mobiflight page, click 'Run' from the menu bar. That should be all.

I've changed from Fenix to FBW to PMDG and back again without any issues.

Per Mobiflight support topic on Discord:

If you run the latest beta version of Mobiflight, it's in Community\miniCOCKPIT\profiles\msfs2020

Where would I find the folder with the profile file in it?

Edit: Found it! Its in the community folder within the Mobiflight installed folder for those wondering

Yep. Copied all other profiles (PMDG737, Fenix, …) in that folder, too, to have them in one place

Is there a tutorial you followed to swap aircraft profiles?

I have a MiniFCU which works out of the box with the Fenix and I would like to use it with the PMDG 737 & 777 but don't want to mess things up for the Fenix lol

Aircraft profiles are swapped simply by loading the specific profile file that you can download from flightsim.to

You will have already downloaded and installed the Mobiflight program and also followed the process to update the firmware on your miniFCU to Mobiflight's as seen here:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uZEInJETZWU

**N.B.** If you are not comfortable with updating your FCU's firmware to a third party one, this expansion of the miniFCU's abilities isn't for you.

Perfect, Thank you I will take a look.

I figured the FCU firmware has to be updated to that of Mobiflight's. I downloaded the Mobiflight connector software yesterday. Would I be correct in assuming that you keep that firmware instead of going back to the default MiniFCU firmware? I would then download a profile for the aircraft I fly (Fenix A320, PMDG 737 & PMDG 777)

Thanks for your help

Richard

Yes to both of those questions.

If you watch the 2 gif images in the details of this profile for the Fenix A320, you will see short videos of how to go through the various steps.

There's also a textual step-by-step guide on that page.

All up and running with the Fenix A320 & PMDG 737 profiles. Going to try the 777 next although I believe it might only have basic functionality for now.

Super happy, Wish I had done this way sooner

Thanks again for the info you posted, it was a great help.
