Purple Flybe ATR 72 in Ireland...

Featured Replies

Flybe has been always a favorite airline of mine, as probably true for many of us, here. The airline that ceased operations a few years ago was known for its distinctive colors, but the signature "purple" (see below) was one of my most favorite of its liveries. I read today, the airline had said, "Purple is not just our new brand color, it reflects our passion...our flagship purple plane reflects our new world of color and light...". One has to admire these the elements of passion...

I'd flown earlier, here, the shorter ATR (42-600), please see, if you wish, my ATR in Jamaica post...BTW, I was thinking a bit... I've travelled, in about a week, from Norway to Jamaica to Austria to Ireland...in this fanciful world of (virtual) aviation...🙂...without stepping outside in this cold weather... (of course, there are a few others, here, who have done lot more wide-ranging globe-trotting...🙂 ...recently...) ...

Anyway, I'd uncharacteristically...🙂...almost forgotten about this ATR a/c in my Xbox system, though I'd picked it up from the Marketplace a long while ago. Now I fly the stretched version of it (the ATR 72-600). The stretched 72, at 15 feet longer than the ATR-42 variant, fast became incredibly popular among the airlines for regional transport (nearly 2000 units built vs. 500 for the 42). I do clearly recall RW travelling in the ATR variants several times (nice a/c indeed...).

So, here is a collection of 20 images of the (Purple) Flybe ATR 72-600 (actually operated by the Irish Regional Airline Stobart Air), flying a short distance of about 80 miles, north to south, between two of its main operating bases: From Belfast-City Airport to Dublin International Airport in the Capital city. (I've for the first time, in this ATR, tried the SimBrief FlightPlan integration via its EFB, and it seemed to work without any issues ...)

Thanks for viewing...!
