Air France Hop...from Paris to Deauville ....

Featured Replies

One of the things I used to enjoy, in my previous SIMs, was the steady stream of the small-town airports that Orbx would churn out for our enjoyment, similar to the creations of a talented (freeware) developer here...🙂... (having had the opportunity to at least transit through most of the major (aka: big) airports of the world...). The small airports clearly have their own charm...in RW and in our virtual world. So, a while ago, I'd picked up, in MSFS, a few such small airport add-ons, one of which was the Deauville-Normandie (LFRG) Airport, in the town of Deauville (France). Deauville, on the English Channel, located less than a couple of hours of drive from Paris, is well-regarded as a prestigious seaside resort in all of France, and, in fact, is touted as the "queen of Norman beaches".

So, I decided to try out an arrival at LFRG (Deauville-Normandy Airport) in the Air France Hop (a Regional French LCC operating on behalf of the parent, Air France, and formerly branded "HOP!" - Note the tilted Exclamation mark after "HOP" in my liveries below). Having been once through the Charles de Gaulle Airport, I lift off here, instead, from (LFPO) Paris (Orly) airport, flying about 110 miles northwest from Paris. And without doing any (local) sight-seeing yet...🙂..., I happened to cross the coastline of Deauville in one of my images below (shot # 12), during the approach to LFRG's ILS Runway 30, where I've finally landed.

So, keep in mind, if you are a non-native (as I am one), that LFRG is not just a small airport...the Wiki actually calls it a "small International" airport. Anyway, it does seem like a very nice small airport in the SIM to visit and enjoy (see my last Ramp parking shot) ...Time next to unobtrusively look around the airport premises a bit...🙂...

Hope you enjoy this collection of images from my short trip from inland to the coast - to the famous, historic, and supposedly beautiful Normandy beach...

Thanks for viewing...!

What a great flight! I love the ATR 42 and your choice of top-down scenery shots was marvelous.

Lovely stuff, P. I don't explore France anything like as much as I should - I did a lot in the early MSFS days and really enjoyed it. Like the UK but different as well (well, the northern bits anyway), and I like the ATR as well.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
