Having just arrived in Nagasaki, at the command of the Cathay Cargo 747-8F...🙂...in the fanciful dreams of our virtual aviation...I was looking around the vicinity a bit. Frankly, this airport (and the island) has now grown on me a little bit...feels sad to say good-bye...🙂...Oh well...

First of all, please note that I've used "Airport(s)" not "Airport" in the Title, which is because Nagasaki actually has 2 Runways (the larger 18/32, constructed on the offshore and reclaimed land, on which I landed), and another shorter one (18/36) of about 4,000 ft, on the mainland part of Nagasaki (see my 2 shots #8/#9 of the mainland). The Nagasaki Airport Wiki, as of today, does list and cite this 2nd Runway, but as crossed-out (the row has a strikethrough on it). The airport with the former/shorter Runway on the mainland was (historically) called Omura Airport, named after the Omura Bay on which the new airport is built. The founding of this (original) airport/runway goes back more than 100 years to 1923. Therefore, in fact, the locals, by habit, often call the new Airport by the old name "Omura Airport". This former Airport/Runway, seen below in my shot #8 was transferred to the Japan Self Defense Force in 2011, and has since been closed to civilian traffic. It, however, exists in the artist's creation, as far as this Nagasaki scenery is concerned, so, you can fly a smaller turboprop into it, if you wish.

In my pictures, especially notice the preponderance of Solar Panels (shots #2/#3) all around the new Airport and Runway. Also, note on the roof of the Terminal (actually this part of the roof is an Observation Deck), the Bell (and the Bell Tower - shot #6). Their website says, "Try ringing the Bell of Happiness to wish for happiness for yourself, for a special someone you're thinking of, and for those who hear the ringing of the bell..." Very nice and inviting indeed, but unfortunately not possible to do so from my Drone Camera...🙂...but I can hear the bell in minds...🙂...sending well-wishes to everyone...

The same website says, "There is a playground and slide on the lawn, bringing peace of mind to parents who want their kids to move around and play..."...for the aviation minded parents, I presume...🙂...You can see this (red-colored) children's slide in my shot #7 in the well-fenced-in playground.

It was fun touring and getting to know better...this island airport and its surroundings... both on the reclaimed land and on the original land... (thanks to this (freeware) contribution of MSFS and the attention of scenery developer) ...of a city with immense historical significance...!

Your "drop-in" visits are very immersive. Makes me feel like I've actually spent a sunny afternoon in Nagasaki and gotten at least a wee taste of Japanese culture. Most enjoyable.

Fine shots, I particularly like the first three.
