P2ATC Error or Bug!

Featured Replies

Hey there,

Just did a flight and descended according to the plan... ATC continuously asked me to climb to FL080 for the entire approach and landing phase, even on the ground he was still bothering me to climb to FL080. Is there a (log) file somewhere that may show a WHY?

THX for any feedback. I was using REX weather and RASS, Sky4Sim and FSRealstic if adds any insight.

The problem is you wanted to start your descent before you even got to your cruise altitude.  You planned a STAR that began just 22NM from the departure airport.  On such a short flight, you would not normally include a STAR.  Most STARs also have minimum altitudes or airspeeds.  In this case there is a constraint of at or above 8000 at DTY, the first STAR waypoint.

In general, especially if you're flying low and slow, make sure you will be able to meet any procedure constraints on altitude and airspeed.  Also, if flying GA piston aircraft, you would normally file a route either direct to the destination airport, or possibly some intervening VORs or other Nav Aids.  Then an Approach at the destination airport.
