March 17, 20242 yr I have just had what can only be described as a waking nightmare..... I decided to take the PMDG 737-600 out for a quick spin around the hand crafted version of EFIV Ivalo (which I think is a decent rendition of the airport). When I was turning onto left base in preparation for a landing on runway 22, I received one of those annoying red "Connection Lost" messages. This was quickly followed by a green "Successfully Connected" message, so I assumed that everything would be fine. However, when I cleared the cloud base after turning onto final approach, I noticed a large section of default generic scenery right in front of me! I could tell that it was default right away, because part of it was covered with autogen buildings that were spread out in that "let's make it look as unrealistic as possible" manner that reminded me of default P3D. In other words, not a pretty sight Even worse, I also noticed that there was a large patch of default terrain directly in front of the airport itself, and when I got closer, I could see that half of the airport base image was missing! After I had given myself a bit of time to recover (lying down on the bed/breathing exercises/anxiety tablets etc), I attempted the same flight again. Fortunately, everything was fine this time, and I could finally start to relax properly. Needless to say, this was a very traumatic experience. I have even considered booking an appointment with the local optician to check for possible eye damage. Seeing default generic terrain textures and autogen placement can be extremely hazardous to one's health, and I would encourage anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to exit the simulator immediately before any adverse effects are noticed.
