May 4, 20242 yr While thinking about going to a 5800X3D or not, I found there is a 5700X3D. Here in Argentina I can get the 5700X3D for $383 and the 5800X3D for $511. In Newegg USA, it would be $229 and $329, respectively (blame our taxes/tariffs and our location almost at the end of the worldย ๐). According this Frenchman, I'd be losing 4-6% performance in MSFS: It's in French, but the graph is very clear. Has anyone else tried the 5700X3D in MSFS in more real-usageย conditions (ex. landing at KLAX)? June 1, 20242 yr Author Well, no replies here, so I'll give mine:ย I got the 5700X3D for just $290, here in Argentina. Iย remember that, with my retired 5600X, I couldn't keep 60 FPS (FG on, locked with Noel's front-edge sync method) with the Fenix B2 landing at LVFR KMIA with FSLTL traffic (70 static airliners + 20 static GA + 8 IFR + 3 VFR). Now I can do so, and only got a dip to 55 during rollout. As expected, benchmarks showed that my single-core performance was lower than in the 5600X, but that's because somehow these benchmarksย don't get any benefit from the 3D-thing these CPUs have. Also, running with FPS unlimited, the FPS increase was not as much as I hoped for. Locking FPS is where I found the amazing results (the same FPS, but a lot less stutters). Benchmarking apps also helped me to see that I possibly won the silicon lottery this time: my motherboard (Gigabyte B450 S2H, updated to latest BIOS) didn't allow me to set PBO or Curve Optimizer in BIOS. I had to use PBO Tuner for that. I could get to -50 mV and no crashes at all. I couldn't set -55 mV because I got an "out of safe range" warning. Neither Cinebench or any other stress test or MSFS could make my CPU crash at -50 mV. With my 5600X, MSFS could crash my CPU with just -20 mV. In conclusion, the 5700X3D is a good processor. I'm not sure if going there from a 5600X is worth the cost, but from a lesser processor (3700X or earlier) definitely is.
