In general, the clearest and quickest way to say something is well documented for a loooooot of common situations in the ICAO standard phraseology. Both for pilots and ATC. I know the US is a bit of a wild west concerning standard phraseology (not trying to start an argument, if it works it works), but still.... There's not a regulatory set of verbiage for pilots. The AIM has a lot of recommendations though. Those are all techniques though. Many are best practices and are what pilots use, but the AIM isn't the CFR.
