Jump ahead alternatives

Featured Replies

Hey there,

the older I get the less time I have for long flights, yet I love the idea of departing one continent and landing on another.

I mostly fly study level aircraft and haven’t been able to find an alternative to jumping ahead in the sim. Does anyone have any ideas? I tried developer mode (teleport window) but that didn’t work for me with complex airliners.

Thanks for sharing and ideas in advance,
Pete

Look for "Quantum Leap" in the library.  I wrote it for FSX, but it works in P3D and MSFS (requires FSUIPC).

I can't seem to get it to find the NavData, even though I have added the PMDG NavData path to the QL.ini file.

Your app shows the error: 'No Navdata file - manual entry only'

You need the navdata for the FSX/P3D versions of the PMDG birds--I think it's likely the format changed for MSFS.  Assuming you have a Navigraph subscription, you can install the FSX or P3D PMDG 737 navdata to the location of your choosing using the Navigraph FMS Data Manager, and then point QL to that.  The folder you specify in the .ini (the folder's full path name) should contain the file "wpnavaid.txt".

No joy with the P3Dv5 version of NavData for PMDG.

In the QL.ini, I've tried both replacing the text "NAVDATA PLACE_COMPLETE_PATH_TO_YOUR_Path_TO_PMDG_NAVDATA_FOLDER_HERE" with the folder path.
I've also tried placing the path ahead of the ; for "; Navdata file is found in the <your fsx path>\PMDG\NAVDATA folder" and also removed all text from the file leaving just the path.

Am I doing something incorrectly?

Fantastic, thank you Bob. Is a registered version of fsuipc required? MSFS is the first sim I haven’t bought it for in like 15 years 😎

If your tool works then I won’t hesitate to buy fsuipc, if required.

Cheers,

Pete

The format has not changed yet, though it's about to with the 777 release.  But as of now, the PMDG navdata format and syntax in MSFS is exactly the same as in FSX.  I had built custom procedures in it for FSX and was able to drop them into the MSFS PMDG 737 with no modification, and they work fine.

The line in the ini file should look something like this (but with the path that's appropriate for your system):

NAVDATA D:\Navigraph\PMDG

The line should terminate with a carriage return, and should use the UTF-8 character set (recommend you edit the included sample ini file using an editor like Notepad++ that doesn't change the character set).

Thanks.

Followed your instructions.
Unfortunately, the app doesn't want to launch today with either the amended .ini file, nor the original unedited one.

Have you seen that behaviour before?

You need to have the .Net v4.0 libraries installed for it to work.  If it won't launch at all, I'd guess you do not.

I've been working on a new revision specific to MSFS the last few days...I may release it into the wild if it pans out.
