Aircraft Not Showing Up

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am posting because I am having a problem that I never had before. When I go to select the type of Aircraft i.e Project Airbus, Project Opensky. Those manufacturing companies dont show as selecting aircraft in the aircraft menu so I cannot use them. I am concerned because I spend alot of time adding the plane and spend countless hours putting textures sounds on the aircraft and would be nice to see it in the airaft menu. Anybody else have this problem?? Let me know if you have and what I may do to fix this. That you much.

Make sure you have this in your Select Aircraft page.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

Hi Lee,

Sometimes if aircraft fail to appear in the menu, it can be due to a problem in the aircraft.cfg file. In particular the details under the 'ui_' entries in the cfg file must be correct and also it is vital that all the 'fltsim.X' numbers are in sequence and none of them have been skipped, otherwise all subsequent aircraft will not show up in the menu.

Hope this helps,

Bill

Everything seems to be ok there. The "ui" entry is something I don't understand. Which one are you referring to? I know there are a couple.

I'm not sure what the abbreviation 'ui' stands for but it seems to determine how/where the aircraft is displayed in the drop down aircraft selection menu.

Here is part of the aircraft.cfg from one of my FSX addon aircraft:

[fltsim.7]
title=iFly 737-800 Ryanair
sim=iFly737_800_24k
model=MCP_Winglet
panel=wide
sound=
texture=RYR
kb_checklists=iFly737NG_CHECK
kb_reference=
atc_flight_number=5026
atc_id=Ryanair
atc_airline=Ryanair
ui_manufacturer=iFly
ui_type="Boeing 737-800 (Wide screen)"
ui_variation="Ryanair"
ui_createdby="iFly Development Team"
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
description=
visual_damage=1
MyConfig=iFly738_7

You can see that there are 5 'ui' entries here (although other addons might only have 3 or 4). These determine what is shown in the Aircraft Selection menu:

ui_manufacturer - the entry under the Aircraft manufacturer dropdown tab

ui_publisher - the entry under the Publisher tab

ui_type and ui_variation - both determine the individual aircraft description as shown on the menu under the thumbnail image

ui_typerole - the entry under the Aircraft type tab

Simple errors in the aircraft cfg can lead to an aircraft not showing up in the selection menu. For example if a square bracket is missing from the initial [fltsim.X] entry then that aircraft and all subsequent aircraft [fltsimX+1, etc] will fail to show in the selection menu. Likewise the same thing can happen if 'fltsim' is not spelled correctly or if a number is missed out in the 'fltsim' entries as I mentioned in my earlier post.

It is important therefore to look closely at the aircraft.cfg to ensure there are no errors such as these as sometimes they may not be immediately obvious.

Show the aircraft.cfg from one of the aircraft that doesn't show.  Sometimes freeware aircraft are modified by people
 and uploaded and have errors like the ones described.  Example...Loads of TDS models have had more that 127
characters in their title= line and the aircraft would not show in the select aircraft page.
