777 and MCE "are you sure, please confirm"

Featured Replies

Hey, was recently flying with 777 and MCE asking him to do flaps 15-20-25- and 30 he keeps on asking to confirm.. pretty annoying.. while I understand to confirm things such as "engine shut down" but flaps.. really.. ?

Second what is the best response to his "please confirm" what is the best word to use.. seems to be hit and mis.. usually repeating the command seems to work sometimes "yes" will work.. idk do you have special word codded for it, best to use'

thanks

The trick is not to elevate your tone too much, especially when you get angry. Speak in same tone you use when giving a straight verbal command. And not too quickly as those commands are dynamically enabled following a prompt (may take half a second for speech engine to be ready to accept them and that's why repeating will wiork)). They are disabled after about 10 seconds. Because they are short words, if you keep them enabled, you'd constantly have MCE detect "yes", "do it" etc...

All these will do ( and I haven't listed all the 70 variations of them).

correct (added recently after watching your first time with MCE video 😛)

Ja  (for our German users who may intuitively say their "yes" in their language, as you would expect to happen sometimes

Si  (for our Spanish and Italian users who may intuitively say their "yes" in their language, as you would expect to happen sometimes

Sim (for our Potuguese users who may intuitively say their "yes" in their language, as you would expect to happen sometimes

Da (for our Russian users who may intuitively say their "yes" in their language, as you would expect to happen sometimes

oui (for our French users who may intuitively say their "yes" in their language, as you would expect to happen sometimes.

The issue with need to confirm requested flaps has been reported and will be fixed either today or tomorrow.

Before moving flaps from one detent to another, FO first checks current detent and if the request is farther from current than 2 notches he'll asume it is unusual ( maybe bad speech reco) and will want to confirm first. Prevents moving flaps say from 1 to 20 without warning. The bug is that he wasn't reading current flaps detent which means for any other detent than 1, he'll always see handle at zero and ask for confirmation. Very likely caused by PMDG latest updates in past week. It will be sorted though.

This patch will get it sorted. Replace a single file inside MCE installation folder
