Call signs and flight numbers

Featured Replies

When I assign a call sign and flight number to whatever AC or helo I fly, MSFS assigns it to every livery and aircraft I use. Is there a way to assign call signs to Individual liveries like we were able to do in FSX and FS9. Is there something in the cfg file of each aircraft livery that call sign is permanent for that livery and nothing else?

For most if not all of the Asobo default aircraft I believe the answer is no.  But for addon aircraft and addon liveries the answer is "perhaps".  If an addon model or livery package was purchased from the Marketplace the answer is no as the needed file is hidden and not available.  If freeware or purchasd elsewhere some addon models liveries, and some standalone addon liveries have the tail number painted into the graphics file(s). Many are recreations of a real world livery and the numbers are painted on in order to preserve genuiness.  You would have to repaint those yourself.  But for others from those sources the tail number may have been created as dynamic.  If so here is what you can try:

In each addon model's file structure, and the same for addon liveries, there is a subfolder named "Airplanes".
Hondajet\mg-hjet-livery-Ravens\SimObjects\Airplanes

In that folder, one of the files is named "aircraft.cfg".  It can be edited with a simple text editor.  Make a backup of the original file first.  Always!

Well down into that aircraft.cfg file you should find a line like this:
atc_id = "N012SB" ; tail number

Try changing the tail number in quotes to a tail number you desire and see if it works.  It works for many of my addon liveries, but not all.

There is also a line in that file that appears to allow a change of the color of the tail number.  I have tried to accomplish that but have not succeeded.  If anyone else has found success changing that color please join in here and educate us.
