For some reason I'm getting the external visual model VC when I load up the PMDG 737-700.  The detailed VC is not coming up.  Did I mess something somewhere?😶

happened to me recently.. I reloaded the 737 again from the main menu and this time it compiled properly and loaded the VC fine.. try loading it a couple of times and it should work..
