August 30, 20241 yr Regarding the Bonanza with G1000 and autopilot. Is it possible to 'preprogram' climb before taking off by setting VS on and clicking on Nose UP for required climb rate (eg +600) then take off and after flaps and gear UP engage the autopilot (AP) and the aircraft start to climb automatically ie hands off yoke? I tried and found that when I engaged AP the VS was OFF (instead on ON) and setting it back on I found that the vertical speed had been reset to around negative 600 ie -600. August 30, 20241 yr Isn't this a "bug", that V/S defaults to zero and not current climb rate whren you engage AP in the G1000 in MSFS? Can't remember, but this might be your problem. pre-program a climb profile is actually not a bad thing, I do it almost everytime I fly night flight IRL. On ground, I turn on FD and FLC , (not V/S) . Preselect speed is Vy, and Heading Select at runway heading . When passing 700ft AGL (after climb checklist/flow) I engage AP and the plane flies my selected "climb". No drama. August 30, 20241 yr Author Thanks for the quick reply. 1 hour ago, SAS443 said: Isn't this a "bug", that V/S defaults to zero I have no idea. Maybe FLC (flight level change) is the way to go/try. I know little about when to 'engage' FLC and will do some research. Yes I set heading to the runway heading and pre engage HDG as well as FD both of which appear to work.
