49" Monitor

Featured Replies

After the better part of 10 years with my 34" Dell UltraSharp 3440x1440 it is time for an upgrade.

I'm interested in anyone's experience with a 49" Oled monitor 5120x1440.

I am also considering an Asus 41.5" 4K and to a lesser extent the Samsung G8 3440x1440. I would really like to step up in size plus move to the Oled.

I have an excellent computer shop and the manager suggested i consider the 49" oled. He's actually downloading DCS for me to try out when I'm back in in a couple days.

My computer has a 7800x3d and for a gpu the 7900xt so power should not be an issue.

In addition to DCS I also use XP12, MSFS2020 and P3d.

So I would really appreciate feed back on the 49". Many thanks.

Samsung G9's can be found for around $1500 cad these days, that is pretty awesome. It's a 48% increase in pixels over your current monitor and a normal 4k is only another 12% bump above that.. I'd say go for it, they look incredible!

There are some good discounts happening on Oled monitors lately. The G8 was previously $1800 Cdn and was on sail for $1000 and the Asus 41.5 is now $1500 down from approx $1900. One of the 49" they carry is now $1250 something that surprised me. It's a lot of $$ for sure but a worthwhile expense especially if you keep it for enough years. I'll go back to the computer shop tomorrow and see what DCS looks like on the 49". I suspect the extra lateral real estate will had nicely to the immersive aspect.
