September 21, 20241 yr Yesterday I started up my P3D v4.5 installation to do a little flying and all of my HOTAS settings where all screwed up. Nothing was as it should be. It's like someone took all the settings and shuffled them like a deck of cards and put them back into the file. I have the X-56 Throttle and Stick. The day before everything was working perfectly. So first off where does P3D keep the setting file for HOTAS Controls. I'm hoping it's something I can read. Also what could have caused this? And does anyone have a settings file that I can plug in and start with. I have to admit that I had deserted P3D for MSFS 2020, but I just recently returned to P3D because my PC has refused to run The Microsoft Store correctly therefore cannot download or update any of its apps including xbox and MSFS so MSFS won't even boot up on my PC and after trying everything I don't think it's fixable. So for at least the rest of this year I will be flying P3D. If I can get this Control thing fixed. I will be very appreciative of any help to get back in the air. i7 8700K CPU @ 4.8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3000 memory, Gigabyte Aorus Z370 MB, EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC Ultra GPU 8GB GDDR6 Memory, MasterAir MA610P CPU cooler, 1T PCIe NVMe SSD, 500GB SSD, 2T HDD, 3 Asus 24" monitors, Saitek X56 Rhino H.O.T.A.S., Altec Surround Sound System.

There is an option under "Controls | Other | Input Method" for use of either Raw or Direct input where a change will mess with whatever you've set up e.g. I have Raw input configured for my X56 and if i was to change it I would cerainly have a messed up configuration. Changes to your PC might also mess things up, like MS installing a "Feature" update, could also just be P3D throwing a wobbly your way. Generally make sure you've the correct input method to suit your drivers/controller and the correct controller is chosen when setting things up, plus pay attention to the calibration and null zones. And when you're in the Key/Axis Assignments you'll see export/import buttons which default to \Documents\Prepar3D v4 Files\ as a location to save to. I recommend saving so you can import if ever required. The files themselves are xml and after I set mine up or make changes I export out the settings with a reverse date in the name as a record of the settings in use for that date. e.g. "P3D_Custom_Control_Config_Keys_2024-03-12-01-x56-rawmode.xml" Hope the above helps. October 7, 20241 yr Author I got this thing under control. I had been away a long time. For some reason my FSUIPC had been deleted. I reinstalled it and reassigned a bunch of axis', switches and buttons and I'm back in the air. i7 8700K CPU @ 4.8 GHz, 32 GB DDR4 3000 memory, Gigabyte Aorus Z370 MB, EVGA RTX 2060 Super XC Ultra GPU 8GB GDDR6 Memory, MasterAir MA610P CPU cooler, 1T PCIe NVMe SSD, 500GB SSD, 2T HDD, 3 Asus 24" monitors, Saitek X56 Rhino H.O.T.A.S., Altec Surround Sound System.
