Accumulating and melting snow/ice for 2024?

Featured Replies

We have seen few weather details, but I wonder whether the atmosphere and precipitation in MSFS2024 reacts to temperature and other factors. Does rain turn into hail or snow when temperature drops (also when manually changing temperature); does surface water turn into ice and melt? I would really love to see snow dynamically accumulating and melting; a wish that I have had said since day 1 of MSFS2020. The snow coverage option is too limiting, as I like to see snow actually accumulating and even driftingb in the wind. Does the atmosphere look different on cold wintery days compared to hot summer days? It would really ad to the immersion if this were the case.

I am also looking forward to hear more details about seasons. They said early on that if they implemented seasons, they would would want to do it properly, with bird/animal migration, dynamic color changes etc. I wonder if the vegetation does change color dynamically or whetehr there are simply 4 static seasons that start on a particular day.

I've just watched a video where Seb said no to Hail, not seen anything specifically on ice build up and such and Seasons has been a bit thin on the ground, it was mentioned in a few videos that the seasons change and that we have different biomes but again nothing technical that I've seen yet (and I've certainly not watched all the videos/interviews etc)

Shame about the hail..hopefully better news about snow. These should be big items in a flightsim. Thanks for sharing!

Given the fact that this would translate to another 'intelligent' layer (snow, standing water etc.) on top of the already new 'intelligent' terrain layer, I'm quite skeptical this will be implemented in the sim on day 1. I guess it would be possible but also very heavy on our systems.

The same applies to running water in rivers and streams - a very welcome improvement if implemented but I'm afraid it's just too early. BTW rivers already needed some TLC in 2020 so I hope that the developers at least tweaked them a little bit in 2024...
