  1. Especially second half of video...MORE Amazing MSFS 2024 Locations You've Got to Check Out
  2. Just look at this video (especially from 30min or so):
  3. Shame about the hail..hopefully better news about snow. These should be big items in a flightsim. Thanks for sharing!
  4. We have seen few weather details, but I wonder whether the atmosphere and precipitation in MSFS2024 reacts to temperature and other factors. Does rain turn into hail or snow when temperature drops (also when manually changing temperature); does surface water turn into ice and melt? I would really love to see snow dynamically accumulating and melting; a wish that I have had said since day 1 of MSFS2020. The snow coverage option is too limiting, as I like to see snow actually accumulating and even driftingb in the wind. Does the atmosphere look different on cold wintery days compared to hot summer days? It would really ad to the immersion if this were the case. I am also looking forward to hear more details about seasons. They said early on that if they implemented seasons, they would would want to do it properly, with bird/animal migration, dynamic color changes etc. I wonder if the vegetation does change color dynamically or whetehr there are simply 4 static seasons that start on a particular day.
  5. Hi,I am new to this forum, but have been eagerly following the recent topics on the exciting upcoming 737NGX (which looks brilliant). I'm about to purchase new mobile hardware to run FSX and PMDG products. My eye is on the ASUS G73SW, which has an Intel i7 2630 processor, 8GB of RAM and an nVIDIA GTX460M 1.5GB DDR5 videocard. This laptop is supposed to run the latest games quite well. On the other hand, I really like the new macbook pro's. For instance, the one that I could afford is the macbook pro 15", which also has a quad core i7 processor, but only 4GB of RAM and a lesser graphics card (AMD Radeon HD6490). My question is, would FSX, with some add-ons, like a PMDG NGX and perhaps some add-on scenery, run fluidly on a Macbook pro, at high settings? Any experience? Thanks a lot,Dirk L.
  6. Thanks a lot for the detailed response. I sort of figured it would not be possible (just wishful thinking). You make it perfectly clear. Dirk L.
  7. Dear all,First of all, my deepest sympathies for the victims, especially for the families and friends, who have lost their loved ones on the Air France flight, and may not be able to know exactly what happened. Maybe some people in aviation can shed light on this fact: why airlines do not carry parachutes onboard. Even the knowledge of having them would be a huge comfort and perhaps take away some of the fear of flying some people have. In cases where a crash is eminent, but the aircraft is to some extent controllable (for instance, by means of adjusting thrust), there is some time before the crash, does not act completely act out of order, and flies at certain altitude, there may be a chance for people to evacuate, and jump out (from a hatch in the bottom of the plane, or something, because I can imagine exiting from the emergency exits may lead to a fatal collision with the elevators and vertical stabilizer of the plane). Of course, in most crash cases, these conditions may not be met, but if they do, at least precious lives can be saved. Perhaps the parachutes could have some transmitter that sends out a distress signal, so evacuated people could be more easily located. I am sure there are very good reasons for not having this option when you go flying. I can think of some:1) The optimal conditions for jumping would almost never be met, so investigating in parachutes would not be worth it. 2) People are required to take the brace position when a crash or crash landing is eminent, in order to increase the chance of survival. If people where to evacuate in the air, it would certainly cause chaos. However, I wonder what would give a higher probability of survival: bracing during a crash, or the chaos that would result from people trying to get out. 3) It would probably be hard to judge at which point there should be an evacuation in the air, especially in the rush and stress of the situation. If there are small chances for survival and saving of the aircraft and preventing a crash in populated area (if the aircraft were to some extend controllable), would it be worth evacuating and letting the plane crash? Anyone? Thanks, Dirk L.
  8. I am sure we'll get that soon.Great idea to use youtube as a tool to promote the product. I know the MD11 will be a brilliant piece of software. I sincerely hope a PMDG777 will follow. Dirk
  9. Hey there,I just saw the youtube video of the MD11. It is very dark and the animated lighting in the cockpit is not very bright, which combined with the poor youtube image quality, makes it hard judge the quality. The way lighting can be changed is incredibly cool though. I have no doubt the MD11 is gonna be another breathtaking piece of PMDG engineering. It would be nice if someone could confirm if the night lighting in the cockpit in reality is a bit brighter than that, especially when light intensity is dialed up fully. Now that the video is on, hopefully we get to know more about this stunning product (very) soon. Thanks,Dirk
  10. Hi all,I thought that pictures were to be posted about this conference, with emphasis on the MD11?! Did I miss something?Dirk L.
  11. I'd like to take this oppertunity to say thanks too.The sound is absolutely spot on. I love the start-up sounds and the nervous variability of the engine sounds at approach. Now, the only thing I need is to hear the egine sounds coming from behind. Maybe FSX can fix that with its 5.1 set-up.Thanks for your great efforts and to make it a free update.Dirk
  12. I am a 26 year old male, and enjoy my citizenship in the Netherlands (south part). However, currently, I am based in Charlottetown, Canada (PEI) to get my PhD degree in biomedical science. In Charlottetown airport (CYYG), planes take off and land in opposite direction. I don't think that's common. I did some joy riding in Cessna 172 and planning to get my PPL much later. I have done a ride on a boeing 737-800 simulator, which was very interesting. I got passionate about aviation after my first flight (Continental DC-10) from Amsterdam to Denver. Although I was scared to death that time, it sucked me into the realm of flightsimming. Now, I couldn't do without and I don't fear flying anymore, which is undoubtedly due to FS.Dirk Luchtman

Keiron.I have been struggling with a similar issue and ended up solving the problem by buying a good power supply. I wasn't really into computer hardware and bought a new CPU, mainboard and graphic card, without upgrading my 350w power supply. Yes, very foolish and the guys at the store didn't tell me anything too. What happened was that each time my graphic card was processing heavy work loads, my hard drive used to make one or two clicking sounds and crash. The only thing I could do is reboot my computer by pressing the power button. I had to throw away several hard drives with this problem, untill I figured that the power supply might be the main issue. I bought a 450 power supply that has a stable output and not just 450w peak. If your new power supply is not of such kind, I suggest you try another one (that has stable output). Maybe you can try one before you buy it. But look at your videocard first, since the problem might be there too. Dirk
  14. I wonder when PMDG will finally tell us that they're new aircraft is gonna be the 777-200/300.Dirk
  15. For the Europeans among us, in Bruges, Belgium, there is a full motion simulator, which is not officially approved but is very realistic and has most systems modeled. It is very cheap and the experience is amazing. http://www.brugesaircollege.be/Dirk
  16. For me also. Ignore my name this time. I vote on PMDG777Dirk

'easy to do' may be a bit of an understatement. Maybe they can use the same sort of programming that they used for the 747, but I can imagine that, technically as well as operationally, the 777 is quite a different machine. Again, I would be in heaven if PMDG would model the 777. It's my definite first choice. Given that PMDG is building a very good reputation, I am quite sure people that already bought the Wilco 777 would be willing to buy the PMDG 777 as well (I would at least). Dirk

An Airbus A340(-600) would be excellent, but maybe not an option due to lack of co-operation by airbus. In that case, I strongly vote for boeing 777.Wilco is making one, but it will be less advanced systems wise. PSS might be more advanced systems wise, but less ok in the graphics compartment. SO, for PMDG to make the perfect 777. Now that I mentioned voting. Wouldn't it be a great idea, if the sim community could vote for the next product? Dirk
  19. Awesome indeed. Thanks PMDG!Dirk
  20. Hi PMDG staff,Would there be any chance that the new soundset included in the 747F package will be for sale separately in the future? Thanks.Dirk
  21. Folks,Believe it or not, but one of the reasons why I would by the 747F is the new sound. Is it a major change from the old stuff? Don't get me wrong, I liked the original sounds, but things can always be improved. Now, PMDG has raised the bar even higher. My only wish now is that their next project will be a T7.Dirk
  22. Thanks for your tips people! Yes, sound is very subjective, but when you check flight videos, the cockpit sounds do not very much between videos, so there is some consistency. Maybe I have too high standards for sound quality in FS, but only rarely have I come across good sound packages, especially for jets. The best I heard so far are the PMDG747 and LevelD767 cockpit sounds. However, I do not particularly like the engine sounds from both packages, especially from the outside.Dirk
  23. Hi!For me, sound is a very important element for realism in FS. Although the original PMDG sounds for 737NG sounds are acceptable, I am looking for better sounds. The ARIANA sound package looks promising, from the desription of the seller and some rumours I heard regarding it. Can anyone attest that? Thanks,Dirk
  24. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/139526.jpgNo other company could make this superb jet better than PMDG. I am not that (visually) impressed by the PSS 777 and although Feelthere's 777 looks very promising visually, the systems will probably not be as accurately modeled as the PMDG 747. I wonder though whether PMDG will develop a 777 in the near future, given the fact that already 2 other developers have produced one. Btw, did anyone notice what happened to the 767 from Captain Sim? I used to be in the preview section, but it's gone now. I wonder whether they abondoned the project due to the great success of Level-D 767.Dirk
