November 16, 20241 yr Would it be possible to develop a duplicate airport, or duplicate AFCAD scanner, for up to P3D v6? One was available for up to P3D v4 at ScruffyDuck Software, but the developer has retired now, and the scanner is not available any more. Jorgen Edited November 16, 20241 yr by jorgensandersen
November 16, 20241 yr Commercial Member I'm not familiar with the existing tool. What would the result of such a scan look like? LORBY-SI
November 16, 20241 yr Author It would show where the duplicated AFCADs were in the file structure, and maybe also the file dates. Then it would be up to the user to figure out which one he would want to keep. That's how my (ailing) memory remembers ScruffyDuck's utility. Jorgen

What I could do is add an airport scanner and counter to P4AO. But I can't promise that it will deliver what you want. Be mindful that duplicates are very common in the scenery, since airports override each other using exclusion rectangles. I cannot detect if an exclusion is in effect or not, that would be way over the top. So, for example when you have ORBX regions, then the result will be thousands of "hits" (more than 20.000 in my case), most of them being legit overrides. I'm not sure that this will be helpful? I don't know how to detect an AFCAD though. To my best knowledge that is a term from the FS9 days, and they don't really exist in the later sims (FSX and onwards). What people call an AFCAD is just a redefinition of parts of the airport? Edited November 16, 20241 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
November 16, 20241 yr I believe the software in question is Simple Airport Scanner. https://scruffyduck.posthaven.com/ Version: P3Dv5.4, P3Dv6 CPU: Core i7-13700K @ 5.5 GHz with HT on, GPU: RTX 3080 12GB, RAM: 32GB DDR-5, MONITOR: 32" 4K with G-Sync enabled, OS: Win10 22H2, Target Frame Rate: P3D 120, NCP Max Frame Rate 35.
November 17, 20241 yr Author That is the one, but the link to the scanner on that page leads to Jon's normal download place, and the Simple Airport Scanner is not there. I have asked several times on FSDeveloper about a new version, and was told it was on Jon's to-do-list, but then Jon retired... Jorgen Edited November 17, 20241 yr by jorgensandersen
