  1. I had a GTX 960 (4 GB VRAM) with P3D v. 5.3 HF2, and upgraded to a 3060 2 months ago, since I saw a good deal on it. An enormous difference! I have most graphic settings maxed out now, and over very complex terrain (DD's New York City is one) my frame rate does slow down to 8-9 FPS. But given the improvements otherwise I can live with that, although I might turn LOD radius back a little. Jorgen
  2. Note the time of the crash. Then right-click on the Start button and select Event Viewer. Click on the arrow next to Windows logs, then click on Application. Now, in the top center pane scroll down to the time of the crash and look for entries titled "Error". Copy and paste any such entries here. Jorgen
  3. Just go slow, do a little at a time, and take notes of what you are doing. Save a lot! I was a bit intimidated also when I started out with it, but the learning curve isn't too steep, even for me. Jorgen
  4. Since the scenery layering system is the same as in FSX, layering (which is also prioritizing) is something you need to consider, no matter if 32-bit or 64-bit. At the bottom of the column (as seen in the Lorby Add-on Organizer) you should basically have base scenery and libraries, then landclass, followed by photoscenery and finally airports at the top. And I don't know what the maximum number of items/entries you can have in P3D is, but it's a lot. In the good old FSX you could have about 900, and with Scenery Configuration Editor you could extend this to around 1,350. Quite frankly I don't even know how many entries in the library I have 😄 ... Jorgen
  5. When I want to make sure that P3D is gone - as in disappeared completely - I go to File Explorer, and in the search box in the top right corner I type ":prepar3d". And I do this on both the drive where P3D is installed, and on the C drive. Jorgen
  6. Jon "Scruffyduck" Masterton died also? We lost Don Grovestine earlier this year... Jorgen
  7. Deleting all these files can be done very simply. Assuming that you only have one version of P3D installed, and this is installed on the C drive: in File Explorer, go to the C drive, and in the search box in the top right corner type "prepar3d". When the search is finished, delete what is found. If P3D is installed on a drive different from C, do this on both the C drive and on the drive where P3D is installed. If you have several versions of P3D installed, in the search type "prepar3d vX" instead, where X of course is the version number that you want to remove. Jorgen
  8. A quote from the so-called CO2Neutral: "I do see many threads of P3D users not knowing how to set them correctly per hardware, get a lot of incorrect information from other "users" (who appear to be trying to help but can often just muddy the waters)". Strangely I don't see you with your obvious large experience in there helping out. Easier sitting back and criticize without sticking your nose out. Jorgen BTW: how does one become CO2-neutral - don't you have to exhale?
  9. Agreed. 4 GB of dedicated VRAM is a must. Jorgen
  10. I do not - definitely not - want to converse about fictional vaporware or rumors, which is what such a conversation would be. It would be pointless speculation, burning up gazillions of electrons in the process. Again, no one knows anything - anything at all. That is a hard FACT - that v. 6 "is coming" is not, and you know it. Jorgen
  11. System specifications, including OS? Jorgen
  12. How do you know that this is a fact? It is as factual as Donald Trump's honesty and business integrity, that's what it is. Jorgen
  13. Now THAT is the rumor mill I was referring to earlier. Bottom line: No one knows (expletive deleted, but referring to bovine byproduct). And that means nothing, nada, nichts, rien, ingenting. Jorgen
  14. I saw your post there. And, forgive my French, but all we know is that for some reason, a closed forum was created on the L-M site in public view, and then it was changed away from public view or deleted. That is all we know. We do not know if that forum is still there, we do not know if anyone uses it, we do not even know if it was created by mistake. All we know at this point is that L-M is not commenting. So, regarding a possible v. 6, I am not going to bet anything until I see some more tangible evidence. And that would be if and when L-M releases it, and that again may be never. Remember back when it was rumored that Microsoft was going to release a 2010 version of FSX? And then they went and scrapped it. Jorgen
  15. My own v. 5.3 certainly could use a more powerful card than my present nVidia GTX 960! And I may soon have to replace it, it seems that a connector on it is developing problems. P3D v. 6? Never heard of it... But by all means update the OS. Windows 10 is very much like 7, Windows 11 introduces some unfortunate changes, and it is only Windows 10 with a different label anyway. Jorgen
