ISO Avsim User Daniel Gregory - Paint Request Aerosoft F16

Featured Replies

Hey, I see that Daniel is still active in the avsim library in 2024 for the aerosoft F16, I am not sure of his username or email.

I see that he has done the Kelly-Lackland-San Antonio, Texas F16s. I am looking for a recreation of the 147th FW Ellington Field (retired). The 147th is arguably the most successful F16 squadron in history with a 100% success rate and accurarcy on target with no downtime due to mechanicals. Today they fly drones... (as they lost the bid for the F35s to the FTW NAS, I think).spacer.pngspacer.png

with or without Texans logo

with "Ace in the hole" or "Dont mess with Texas" (goes hard in the paint!)

Boom! Not quite done,  few other small details, and maybe re-arc the tiny nub on the star to be a little more accurate. All and all, I am kind of stunned I pulled this off. This was easily 9-12 hours of getting it right. I chose the small font and logo, as it is the only one to feature the "Dont Mess with Texas", and I think it looks less cluttered compared to the large font and logo.

Finished product, minus the state of texas emblem for the Houston ribbon, that will be easy. However, it is black in game. I did not have this issue painting liveries for the T38 using gimp, I wonder if it has anything to do with the "specular.dds"? I hope I get it figured out, I had to trouble shoot so much lately, and there were little things about this paint that took repair in order to get it correct.

I do recall I was once flying the Aerosoft F16 in my FSX days...🙂...

Thanks for sharing...!

Here is the finished product, basically. I know a lot of people come to forums begging people to do favors for them, and never follow up. I wanted to not only follow up, but provide this livery to the community for use. Since this is my second livery, I have learned a TON of learning lessons along the way. This one required a ton of trouble shooting, and doing my best to correct my mistakes. i.e. accidentally scaling to 1057x1026 and lower the texture quality just a tiny tiny bit. Luckily I had been saving along the way and was able to salvage a lot of the original quality. If I want to I can go back once more and cover everything with fresh textures, but after 20 or so hours of "getting it right", here we are.

The 147th FW, Ellington Field, Houston, Tx.
