MiniFCU DLS not working after reverting from Mobiflight?

Featured Replies

Anyone else with a MiniFCU have issues with trying to go back to their DLS software after using Mobiflight with it?  I had the April 26th firmware update installed and was using the 1.x versions of DLS just fine and could swap to Mobiflight when I wanted to use it with a 787 etc in MSFS 2020.  Since October with their Oct and both November firmware updates flashed after resetting the board config in Mobiflight the firmware claims it flashed ok, but trying to use any of the new 2.x versions of their DLS including the new one that just came out this week for both 2020 and the new 2024 version it doesn't work.  As soon as I revert Mobiflight config to the MiniFCU firmware from inside Mobiflight and then start up Mini's software theirs thinks the April firmware is back on.  So I close it, flash the November firmware which says it's successful (and seems to be based on the log files) and then when I open the DLS software it can't display a firmware version in the bottom right, and just restarts the unit over and over every 20-30 seconds.  I can then open up mobiflight and set it up in there again and it works just fine.

I've tried contacting support but they've been zero help.  I keep providing them info as requested but then I hear from a different tech who might ask me for something else, or if it's been a few days and I've pinged them back to see if they got the previous info I might even get the same tech just asking me similar questions again.  Starting to regret buying this thing and maybe should have waited for the Winwing stuff.  I mean sure I can use it with mobiflight for now, but I don't know if I have something wrong with the unit since it seems to not be flashing their new firmware correctly or if it's some issue with my system and their new DLS versions even though windows is fully updated etc.

You need to Download Latest Firmware Uploader and run the installer.

Yes as I said above i've done that.  I've tried the 10-29, 11-7, and the newest 11-17 versions.  I also just found something really odd.  After flashing 11-17-2024 firmware yet again this afternoon and still no go on the DLS, I then uninstalled the installer for that, reinstalled the older 4-26-24 firmware installer (I'm a packrat i keep everything) and trying that out, the DLS was able to actually read the firmware version, and of course report it as the 4-26-24 version.  So there seems to be some issue with the new installers not working right, or Mobiflight has done something to the unit that won't let Mini's firmware flash correctly.  🤷‍♂️

Well I guess I'm the only one with this issue or something.  Support doesn't seem to be able to help so far (this has been going on for a month+ now).  I've now tried flashing the stupid thing on two different PC's with fresh downloads of the 2024-11-17 firmware.  They seem to have re-packaged it in the last few days but labeled as the same firmware version (zip file named slightly different and installer is now in a folder in the zip), but now it gives a Fail message on both PC's near the end saying to "please close Arduino IDE, serial monitors, and other software that may be blocking the port".

Uh, the only thing open like that is the stupid firmware flasher tool.  The 2nd PC is a laptop with nothing related to arduino or serial port stuff or anything like that on it.  I can then flash the 2024-4-26 firmware just fine and the DLS software sees it but can't use it because it's too old for the new versions.  Then I can go back to Mobiflight just fine no matter what firmware I tried.

Yeah, really starting to think I should have got the Winwing, but that wasn't even out when I did the kickstarter for this thing.  Guess I'm gonna have to just learn to program stuff in Mobiflight in case any of the profiles I'm using break down the road and the authors don't update them on fs.to.

Well I give up at this point.  Either I'm having a unique issue or nobody is using this thing anymore or hasn't tried the new DLS and firmwares.  The guy that does the mobiflight profile for the Fenix put out an update in the last few days that updates to add the MiniEFIS and he also included a new firmware reversion from mobiflight that flashes the 20241117 one instead of the old 20240426 version.  Worked fine where Mini's latest installer gives that "Fail" message about supposedly being blocked, but the stupid DLS still just restarts the MiniFCU over and over.  After two months I'm done.  I don't know if this is a bad unit or some weird random bug with their firmware and/or having used it with mobiflight.  I've even tried their official firmware installer on a completely different PC with no improvement.  I guess I better start learning how to program stuff in mobiflight in case the people that make these profiles ever stop and some update breaks them.

@flyinion Did you have any success with getting things to work again? I am having the MiniFCU show that it is correctly connected but then when I start the latest stable Xplane 12 with the Toliss A321, it shows me: "Mini Cockpit FCU not found" window. I can reset it all I like annd it will again show as connected to the PC but Xplane can't see it or use it, any thoughts?

Contact their support you might have a hardware issue.  I don't know if the early versions decided not to work with the later firmware or I just got unlucky but they just sent me a new internal board for free.  Pretty quick swap, but I noticed the board is laid out slightly different than my original one which was one of the kickstarter units.  It's worked great since.

They also didn't want the old board back so I kept it in case I decide to get creative and swap the boards when I want to use mobiflight to use it with non-airbus stuff.  I probably won't though because the double row of pins along two edges of the board that plug into two sockets is VERY hard to get out without touching the sensors on the knobs and they warn you about touching them when replacing the board.  I just don't know if I want to go back to swapping between mobiflight and the DLS software again though.

Oh ok thanks, nice to know that good support is available, at this stage it intermittent for me but only started happening after I also installed the WinWing MCDU. Thanks for your help.
