February 1, 20251 yr I had problems w/ the new NV driver which contains the latest DLSS files within it so was unable to go the route prescribed in the other thread, DLSS4 Definitive Guide. This guide is aimed at helping you configure what needs to be configured to make this work without the need to obtain the DLSS4 files and drop then into the folder to which they belong. And ultimately if and when it works for everyone will be the best option because it should keep up with updates of those DLSS files and automatically keep your sims up to date, I believe. I spent maybe 3 hours trying methods in the Guide to the letter but failed to be able to get the sim to load and not lock up even before hitting the Fly! button. I deduced it was an issue w/ the driver required to use those methods with, the driver from Jan 30. When the next driver releases I'll try again but the good news is you can do this with earlier drivers and get improve performance and graphics. How much improved? Seems noticeable here and frame rate is improved likely because I was GPU limited previously when running unlocked. So you can immediately see what DLSS4 offers by simply downloading the two latest DLSS files if you own an RTX40 or 50 series GPU. This file, nvngx_dlss.dll is what aims to improve super resolution and I believe works for 20 and 30 series GPUs as well. The other file is nvngx_dlssg.dll is what aims to improve frame generation, so would be only for 40 or 50 series GPUs. You will find nvngx_dlss.dll here: NVIDIA DLSS DLL 310.2 Download | TechPowerUp And nvngx_dlssg.dll here: NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation DLL 310.2 Download | TechPowerUp Extract each download, make sure you're copying the actual file and not a folder with the file in it from your download, and paste them into the folder where they reside, in my case for Win 11, 2020, Store version: C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content If you did not cut out those files first then you will be asked permission to overwrite them w/ the new ones. Of note, updates to the sim will likely update the DLSS files with older ones, or not, we'll see. February 1, 20251 yr I did this same method its all you need to do - Ill give this one more try - then I'm out - Ill try it with rolled back driver - this new driver released it junk Rich Sennett
February 1, 20251 yr After ignoring the message still works in sim - not bad on the last driver before this new 5090 driver which is terrible look at the clouds before and after - huge difference DLSS this time was ok but not as good as TAA - still blurry cockpit readouts I could find that missing file and add it no need TAA for me for now - thanks Noel Rich Sennett
February 1, 20251 yr Author I'm hoping it helps with the kind of artifact I have to use work arounds to deal with. THAT is a long shot but it's conceivable they will figure out a way around this eventually if not with DLSS4. My first and only flight adding the nvngx_dlssg.dll seemed remarkably improved but it's really dependent in part on the kind of texture being used on tarmac/taxiway/runway and lighting so not sure at all yet. It's the strobe/flicker which I really can't stand. Since increasing SecondaryScaling to 1.5 along with this DLLS and even 3.8 the ghosting/smearing is better enough. It's again the strobing/flickering I can't tolerate but that is where a 2nd screen comes into play: if I park the mouse on it all of that disappears and with the improvements seen in performance it's enough to work well, i.e. w/o FG operative on the main screen and hence no strobe/flicker.
