February 7, 20251 yr As i cannot request taxi or departure on smaller german airports, maybe I run into this issue in V3: Asking for QNH, weather, ... or opening a flight plan is possible but not requesting taxi or departure on german airports with "ED... Radio". Works in EGEO (Scotland) as this is "EGEO Info". Navigraph was updated to 2501 after installation of P2A V3
February 7, 20251 yr Commercial Member The controllers with the name "... Radio" are FSS controllers in the database, which is different from Info controllers. Many small airports are uncontrolled, with no authority on site to issue taxi or takeoff/landing instructions. In such a case, you might have a CTAF or UNICOM frequency where you can announce your taxi and takeoff intentions to other pilots, or at many small or grass strip airports you might not have any assigned frequencies specific to the airport. If on an IFR flight, you would get your IFR Clearance from a Center controller, then get IFR Release from that same controller before taking off. Dave
February 7, 20251 yr Author Sorry,I didn't tell the full story. The last days, I try to get V3 comparable to V2,so I set (as in V2) Info Ctlr Acts as Tower FSS Ctlr Acts as Tower In V2, I start VFR from smaller airports. And just to interact with ATC, I request taxi and departure - a little conversation "for fun". In V3, it's possible for "XXXX Info" (e.g. EGEO), but not for "EDXX Radio" (e.g. EDWR or EDTQ). So my thought was this "EDXX Radio" naming (vs. other countries "XXXX Info") to be responsible for not giving me taxi/departure clearance. But if "EDXX Radio" acts like FSS, shouldn't the setting "FSS Ctlr Acts as Tower" restore the V2 behaviour in V3 ?
February 7, 20251 yr Commercial Member Yes. I'll check on that and get it fixed. Thanks for the additional detail. Dave
