[With no respite from the winter's snow and cold around here in Chicago, and, while I'm already (virtually) visiting Finland...in a make-believe summertime....🙂... (see my previous post), I thought I might as well extend my (virtual) visit up there, by exploring a bit of the neighboring country, Norway, across Finland's western border. I used to often explore Orbx's Norway in the past SIMs, but have not visited it in the MSFS world...]

Mountains and oceans are fascinating, generally considered to be natural attractions of the world (and I personally agree wholeheartedly), drawing visitors with their landscapes and ecosystems. Now combine the mountains and oceans together in a single location, and it all then becomes even more attractive because it offers a unique degree of diversity with the ability to enjoy both mountainous terrains, alongside the coastal beauty of oceanside and beaches.

I particularly recall my unforgettable memories of the coastal mountains near San Francisco, California, and the beauty of the city's sunsets famous for their vibrant colors that reflect off the (adjacent) waters of the San Francisco Bay and Pacific Ocean. I will also always remember my one visit to the southern tip of India, Kanyakumari, where you can see both sunrise and sunset off the same waters: the sun rising over the Bay of Bengal and setting in the Arabian Sea. The three bodies of water, Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean, all meet at the Kanyakumari Beach. And there are mountains too near Kanyakumari, making it truly a unique destination of natural beauty.

Likewise, the geography of Norway is not only dominated by vast mountain ranges, but these mountains of Norway are also considered coastal, as they run directly along the country's western coastline (off the Norwegian Sea), often dropping sharply into the fjords, creating a dramatic landscape where mountains meet the sea. See e.g., my A321 below, after liftoff, banking away over the waters of the Norwegian Sea, in dawn light, then headed inland, towards the coastal mountain ranges. For this post, I've pretty much tracked the (entire) Scandinavian Mountains range of Norway, from its northern tip to its southern toe, flying, here, ~750 miles, from (ENAT) Alta airport to (ENBR) Bergen Airport (see my EFB Route map). Having set my (virtual MSFS) season to a Summer month for this flight, if you examine few of my (collocated) pictures below, and then look up e.g., the Wiki for "Mountain ranges of Norway", you'll notice that the early-summer images of the mountains in the Wiki, indeed, look strikingly similar to what I saw in my virtual world.

I've finally landed into ILS Runway 17 of Bergen Airport (ENBR). This iniBuilds A321, which I'm flying only for the 2nd time in MSFS2024, flew admirably for me today, without any apparent issues encountered, within my limited domain of flight application.

Hope you enjoy this collection of pictures of my (virtual) tour across Norway (north to south) ...as much as I did flying it...in the comfort of my (nice) Airbus A321....🙂...

Thanks for viewing...!

Third from the bottom...love that shot!

Thanks, John. Yes, arrival scenery into Bergen/ENBR airport seemed very pretty...especially with that (nearby) suspension bridge clearly visible on approach from my port side...🙂... might like to get a payware ENBR someday...
