March 2, 20251 yr My Corsair Dominator DDR5 (2x32GB) runs all memory tests and bench marks with no problems running the EXPO1 profile. But - FS 2024 crashes to desktop within 15-minutes of starting a flight using the enhanced memory profile. It NEVER suffers a CTD with memory running at stock profile. No other application has a problem with the "faster" profile and I do get a BIG memory thruput increase as measured by VovSoft RAM benchmark v1.4. Is this a known problem in MSFS 2024? March 2, 20251 yr If it's passing a test with Memtest86+, but crashing with the sim, I'd suspect something like sagging voltages with the system under heavy load. What PSU are you using? I'd try monitoring the voltages while under load, particularly Vdimm, with a utility like HWInfo. March 4, 20251 yr Author eVGA G3 750 watt PSU I use HWInfo quite a bit but am unable to display the memory voltages - where do I find them? CPU-Z shows the memory voltages set a 1.4V and that is what the EXPO 1 profile in BIOS shows - how can I verify the operating V? MemTest86 (standalone boot) ran for an hour with no errors in any of the tests on an EXPO 1 profile I've run several benchmarks for extended periods of time on EXPO 1 with no problems. But FS 2024 does a CTD at about 15-minutes every time I fly with an EXPO 1 profile. All temperatures I monitor are nominal during 3DMark, GeekBench 6, CPU-Z, UserBench Edited March 4, 20251 yr by TacomaSailor add details AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking
March 5, 20251 yr Author Finally found the voltages display I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic with the EXPO 1 setting and it found no problems in two passes through memory I tracked memory voltages during several FS 2024 sessions and several memory stress testing and benchmark sessions. The only voltage that varies is VDDQ which is specified at 1.410 V in my BIOS. It occasionally drops to 1.385V during all the sim sessions and stress/benchmark sessions. In the sim sessions where I get a CTD - VDDQ had dropped to 1.385 many times prior to the CTD. Just prior to the CTD I got a message which said something to the effect of "memory error - tried to write to an address that does not exist..." - or something like that. The message flashed in a box and quickly disappeared. Why does FS 2024 have a problem with memory when no other app does? Is the drop in VDDQ from 1.410 to 1.385 enough to cause problems?
