March 11, 20251 yr I installed FS2024 on launch day and for the most part was okay. Installed the 1st update a few months ago without issue and SU1 also installed without issue. I took a test flight a few days ago checking out the new Cessna 185 and SU1 around the San Juan Islands in Washington State and all seemed well. Not a half bad model and performance was butter smooth. Today I tried to launch FS2024 and it kept on crashing on the loading flight screen. Tried several times and it would just get the spinning circle forever on the bottom right side of the screen. I literally waited like 1 hour the 2nd time but nothing. I tried a few hours later and I finely got a flight to load but the plane was placed a couple of thousand feet up in a random area. It would sort of hover for 10 seconds or so an slowly start to fall from the sky. Slowly at first and then it would speed up. Exited out and rechecked that I was supposed to start on the runway and launched it again and the same thing happened. Rebooted the computer and relaunched the sim. This time I started on the runway as it should but everything looked like garbage and Active Sky was not working. Only thing available was Clear Sky option. Try to set it to Live Weather and it would just bounce back to the Clear Sky Option. In frustration I went ahead and uninstalled FS2024 and I am now reinstalling it. Mostly because I am still on my original install which has been rumored to be corrupt for many. However today's shenanigans certainly pushed me into doing so! Hopefully I get it running as it should!
March 11, 20251 yr I don't think you needed to reinstall so quickly. What you describe is probably WU: Brazil doing it, it probably would have worked fine tomorrow. That said since you reinstalled already no biggie, I'm sure the reinstall wouldn't hurt. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Luckily it does not take very long to reinstall and amazingly it now seems to be working normally. Only bad thing that happened is all my custom keyboard commands and the custom stuff on my joystick is gone. So I will have to redo that stuff but its not crazy difficult. Just kind of time consuming. I was hoping that the FS2020 default keyboard option would actually be like FS2020 default but they have not bothered to fix that yet.

March 11, 20251 yr Author Interesting find at least in my case. I rebooted FS2024 a 2nd time and something downloaded for a few seconds. I thought maybe it was another update but after I got a flight going I noticed that my custom keyboard mapping was installed and working again. So it looks like at least in limited cases your settings are stored in the cloud and will reinstall shortly after you reinstall it. I am glad I did not have to mess with those key maps again! Some other settings like AI traffic and a few others have not reset and will need to be adjusted but most other things are still in place including many assistance options I have set up to my liking (most actually off). My Active Sky is still not working in FS2024. It recognizes that the sim is running but I get a warning that says "Weather Script Not Detected". When I cleaned out the community folder I may have deleted some plug in or whatever for Active Sky. I tried reinstalling Active Sky again thinking it would restore those files but it looks like it did not do so. I will dig in my FS2020 Community Folder and see if something is in there for Active Sky and cut and paste into the FS2024 Community Folder. I don't think I ever had to do anything else in the past though. I seem to remember Active Sky working just fine in FS2024 without doing anything. That was a while ago though! Here is an update.... I got Active Sky running. It was simply a missing plug in that got wiped out when I cleaned up the Community Folder. FS2024 runs real nice. A little better than before. The biggest difference is the popping and clicking I was getting when accessing the options screens seems 99% gone. Now I need to formally map my FS2024 install so I can properly download FS2024 approved add on stuff I have. Like many I originally just cut and pasted stuff into the FS2024 Community Folder. That works sometimes but you sometimes get something that disagrees with FS2024. This was probably why I had to redo everything to begin with! Edited March 12, 20251 yr by longhaul747
