AxisAndOhs version 4.52 released

Hello all,

version 4.52 build 39 has been released today.

The highlight of this version is probably the CAPTURETOFIP command. This allows you to for example stream any desktop window to an AAO gauge, which can then be viewed on your phone or tablet, in the InGame panel in VR and on the MSFS2024 EFB tablet using the AAO EFB app Community package (available for download on the axisandohs.com website). I've started a "blog" on the AAO site too, where I will publish my own projects using this new tech. Feel free to adapt and change them to your liking. Don't hesitate to ask here in the forum in case of trouble.

Here is the current changelog:

- Change: MSFS2024: aircraft config loaded too early
- Change: MSFS2024: Added MSFS 2024 modular simobject methods
- Change: MSFS2024: Added logic to update MSFS 2024 flight plan file data with geographical locations
- Change: MSFS2024: added L:1: variable processing (read and write)
- Change: MSFS: Added option to call BVars with multiple parameters (>B:2: to (>B:5:
- Change: MSFS: When IEs are collected, AAO will automatically add the most common BVars (Inc, Dec, Toggle, Set)
- Change: RPN: scripts/scriptfiles calling other scripts will now be parsed for variables recursively, to avoid extra initialization code
- Change: RPN: Added (CAPTURETOFIP:) command to stream desktop windows to AAO gauges (to use for example in VR on your tablet/phone)
- Change: MIDI: added channel priority option to MIDI OUT
- Change: Axis and Buttons: added option to use a Combo LVar (a value of 0/1 will disable/enable the control)
- Change: Axis and Buttons: added option to override linked template assets with local assignments
- Change: Buttons: optimized internal processing, reduced the delay between key press and action
- Change: Axis: added option to shift the output value (for example to utilize center and deadzone on a slider to skew the response curve)
- Change: WebFIPs: added option to make the WebFIP load a specific font file
- Change: added extra logging of disconnected or invalid joysticks
- Change: Template export: added "check all" box
- Change: Import Scripts always active, but will disconnect when used during flight
- Change: Added dialog to observe script values (type S:)

- Bugfix: WebAPI: button events not split into separate up and down actions
- Bugfix: MSFS2024: using BVars in Offline Mode (DCS Bridge!) not working.
- Bugfix: Speech Recognition: the mic timeout was in minutes, not seconds when using the TOGGLE event
- Bugfix: Using (S:group-title) to make scripts return values wasn't working for WebAPI calls
- Bugfix: AAO couldn't handle more than one POV controller on a device
- Bugfix: Axis Label couldn't be changed
- Bugfix: Axis right edge wrong when using non-linear dead zone
- Bugfix: Control Layer change not applied correctly when using the click label
- Bugfix: prevent Layer change on linked assets

Here are a few screenshots of content being displayed on the MSFS 2024 tablet using the AAO EFB App.

One is the AAO manual PDF, open in my web browser and streamed using CAPTURETOFIP. The next is one of the AAO audio checklist web pages. And finally the StreamDeck app, also using CAPTURETOFIP

An here is one of the crazier projects using this tech: the MCDU from the Airbus A320 V2, popped out from the sim and transmitted via CAPTURETOFIP to a MultiTileGauge on the StreamDeck (the screen is easier to read on the actual device). For this to be usable one needs two StreamDecks, the second one has all the buttons from the MCDU keyboard on two pages.

Thanks for the update.

Looks like CAPTURETOFIP is a killer😀.

I can see many use cases.

To help with finding window titles for CAPTURETOFIP or the WINDOW... commands, AAO has a special dialog:

Tools->Show all current windows

It is possible to just use the beginning of the process name or window title, as long as it is unique.
If there are more windows with the same name (for example when you pop out MSFS instruments, they are all called "WASMINSTRUMENT"), you can append an index to the name:
(CAPTURETOFIP:WASMINSTRUMENT~0|...
(CAPTURETOFIP:WASMINSTRUMENT~1|...
etc.

I've noticed something in both 2020 and 2024 with this version. When AAO uses a master aircraft and displays the red banner: I uncheck the banner and assign a template (using replace option), but the banner remains and all commands remain "greyed" out, un-editable, I have to restart AAO for the selected template to take effect.

Weird, that logic is missing a reload somehow. I will put it on the list.

You don't have to restart AAO. Instead click on the green LED at the top to disconnect, then click it again to reconnect.

Since upgrading to 4.52 b39 I've been experiencing CTD in MSFS 2020.  I downgraded to the previous version of AAO, and the CDTs have stopped.  I've run into the crash issue with PMGD 777 and PMGD 737.

I am also running the latest stream deck plug-in (but downgrade that when I downgrade AAO).

Is there anything I can look at to help troubleshoot my issue?

The custom checklist idea has been added to my todo list. Nice addition.

Sorry, no idea, never happened before. And there is no reason for it either, it is not like core features have changed. When all is said and done, this is just a minor update. What is the "previous version" that you are using? And how would I go about testing this? I have the 737-700 sitting on the runway right this moment, connected to AAO. But I don't have any additional peripherals, just the sim and the app.

Please send an email to the support address with your proof of purchase. The address is on the last page of the AAO manual.

Thanks for the response.  I have not been able to replicate since posting.  Like taking my car in for service...

I will repost if I can gather more data and senarios.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a similar issue if I do anything with scripts while MSFS2020 is running, but this also happened on earlier versions as well.
