Took it for a spin for the first time and could not get the cruise speed past 160 IAS although 200 is on the dial. Is this normal for this plane?Climb out at 700 fpm was also struggling Max throttle/rpmAny tips appreciatedThanksBill

Check out Geofa's replys in the "Flight model and the real world pilot" thread. Is your mixture leaned OK for altitude?Best Regards, Donald T. :-wave

Seems from his reply IAS 160 is correct. Thought this would be a tad faster planeI tried different mixture settings and not much effect. Thanks for the referenceBill

It is a faster plane-we always file for 186 knots at 24" and 2400. Indicated airspeed will however be 160-166 depending on the atmospheric conditions. The optimum altitude to fly is 6-8000 ft. which gives a 12-16% airspeed increase over the indicated.http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

I was actually at 7,500 feet. The IAS was exactly in the range you mentioned. Next time I will check my ground speed and TAS. I guess I have gotten too accustomed to jet flying :-) But it was a pleasant flight and quite easy to fly. Thanks for the inputBill

Well speed is all relative! :-) I can beat or match the airlines in the Baron much of time e.g. I used to fly my son from north of Detroit to college in Baton Rouge, La. 15 minutes to my local airport-1/2 hour from preflight to takeoff and a 4 hour 15 minute flight with a 1/2 hour or less stop for fuel-a little over 5 hours total time. On the comercials jets required 1 hour drive to dtw, one hour early for security-a one hour flight to memphis-a one hour or more layover, another one hour flight to Baton Rouge, a half hour to get luggage. I don't even charge for peanuts on the Baron! (yet) :-) http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/
