Virtavia HU-16

Featured Replies

spacer.pngI installed the VIrtavia HU-16 in P3D V5.4 and the textures look a bit washed out and just strange. It also looks like this in P3D V4.5

I know that was a FSX program but I'd like to know how to darken the colors and eliminate the tiles look on the skin.

This is what it looked like in FSX:

I think you can get more out of it by setting more saturation in the lighting settings of Prepar3D.

I use 1.15 Saturation an 1.22 Brightness with HDR. The gpu software also has settings

I made the adjustments in P3D and pretty much the same. I use a Nvidia Geforce 3060 gpu.  What settings would you recommend?

These are my settings. Bloom is way too strong for me, so I have it at the minimum. Also Auto Exposure makes things too bright I think. Inside the plane I have Chaseplane making the cockpit brighter.

Thanks for the settings. I matched what you showed and it helped some.

It darkened the paint on the plane, still can see little squares on the dark part of the paint.

If I go up a tad, some of the mini squares go away. If I lower the view, the mini squares appear.

Considering it was meant for FSX I think this looks good enough...

Thanks Dan for your assistance. 👍

I thought Chase plane was just for obtaining different camera views. I use FS Spotlights for various cockpit luminations

I read the CP users manual online and did not see any info on how to make cockpit brighter. May consider using CP if it will do as you say.

Chaseplane is declared a legacy product by the seller //42 what means, they do no longer support you. Since I had problems using it recently I'd not buy that program.

Where is this livery from your showing?

Cubi Point was a former US Naval Air Station in the Philippines. It closed Nov 1992 along with Naval Station Subic Bay. The HU-16 shown was a station aircraft for the air station there.  The airbase was turned over to the locals and is now Subic Bay International airport.  P3DV5.4 depicts the airport after it closed. A more accurate overhead view of the air station before it closed is shown in link below. More info here

Ok, what I meant, where did you find this texture for the HU16B? I could not find it. Your own repaint?

Some one, I forget who, did this one for me as a favor.

I have a copy of the image of this particular aircraft if you are interested in making a texture if it.

I use FsSpotlights from FSLabs (Freeware) . I just create a wide dome light that covers the whole cockpit then turn it way down until you get the level to your preference. Then with the spotlights manager you can turn it on and off and edit the brightness as you see fit. Great thing about this is that it's aircraft Specific so some will need more light then others, job done.

Also, at the P3D toolbar menu, click on "Options" then Live Graphics. Click on the "Shadows" tab then scroll down to "Shadows Type" and turn off (un-check) "Internal Vehicle Cast & Receive". I found this somewhat helpful.
