Is P2A a true AI system?

Featured Replies

I am new to P2A and am on a 10 day trial.

It does not appear that P2A is a full AI system like Beyond ATC or Say Intentions. Could someone clarify this for me please.

It seems that my communications have to be completely based on my flight plan and where the aircraft is at the time.

It is not AI. I like P2A much better than Say Intentions.

In the real world, ATC interactions are based on what your status is, where you are physically and what controller you are talking to.  So, for example, if you ask Ground controller for takeoff permission, he will send you to tower, assuming you are near the end of the runway.  If you ask tower for takeoff permission but you are located far away from the active runway, he will send you to Ground control to get taxi instructions/permission.

The Copilot phrases you can select in P2A are just a subset of the phrases that P2A can understand and react to.  They are the more common phrases you would use and are driven, like real world ATC Communications, by the aircraft's state and location and by what controller you are speaking with and other factors.
