Sometimes it happens

Featured Replies

Not everything goes as planned. I suffered an engine failure which diverted me to Nuuk (Greenland) to make an emergency landing. I couldn't complete my flight to Cologne-Bonn.

Indeed…it does…especially in some of our high-grade simulation a/c as this one…but all is well that ends well…🙂…These days, whenever I fly any such premier offerings, all failure scenarios are pre-cleared meticulously on the a/c MCDU menu…🙂

In my umpteen transatlantic travels, if I’m seated on the correct side, while in high- cruise, I’ve often looked out into the darkness towards the invisible Greenland…as a possible divergence…

Beautiful FedEx shots here, and glad you made it safely down to terra firma …just past those floating ice crystals…

Thank you for sharing this unusual experience…!

Thanks much folks! Yeah, it wasn't a simulated failure. I didn't think it would happen to me during this flight. I always fly with enabled failures but i don't set any failures, the failures are random so it can happen anywhere at any time during the flight or even before i take off. Active failures bring more realism to the sim. Knowing that i have studied the 777's FCOM well...it's not a problem! It's a little frustrating not to finish a flight at its destination but it brings more experience in any case, that's what i find.
