July 18, 2025Jul 18 Today, I was pleasantly surprised to find this iniBuilds A350-900 in my Xbox/MSFS2024 Marketplace. So, after all, iniBuilds has (adequately) tested and (finally) delivered their A350 for us kids on the Xbox...🙂...I was frankly expecting to see the PMDG B777 first on my Xbox, but, actually, rather glad to have the A350 in my hangar now. The A350 is quite a novel and modern airplane to fly in our SIM. And this A350, here, is a good one, and, in fact, probably the best rendition of A350 I've ever come across in the SIM, speaking purely from my own (limited) perspective. I wish I had more time today to do a complete long-haul (transoceanic) flight that this airplane deserves, but, nonetheless, yours truly, the consummate (virtual) aviator, was not to be deterred from taking a (quick) opening shot at getting this a/c airborne for a (make-believe) long-haul trip. Chicago to Frankfurt is my most frequently travelled long-haul route, that I've travelled umpteen times in RW, spanning over a period of couple of decades, with (A330, A340, B744/B748, B777) as the primary means of conveyance, and Airbus A330 and A340 being a major part of it. However, I have never travelled on the A350, hence my singular fascination with this Airbus aircraft (and this iniBuilds SIM). So, for starters, I wished to do a (very) simple test-flight with this SIM today, reserving e.g., SimBrief Flight Plan integration etc. that its EFB allows, for another time. On the MCDU, I set (ORIG = KORD, DEST = EDDF), Flight Level = 350, and filled out other basic (PERF) data etc. as needed. Then, after lifting off from O'Hare, I retracted the gears and flaps, and (quickly enough) activated the Managed Modes of navigational guidance. The A350, gracefully sprung off into the air...from the Xbox Gamepad...🙂..., and responded dutifully to my lateral flight path activation, promptly turning its nose, from my hometown, towards EDDF/Frankfurt, exactly 3,790 (direct) nautical miles (or 4,350 statute miles) away as seen on the ND display shots in the cockpit (with no waypoint sequencing involved here for simplicity). The airplane climbed steadily and powerfully...entering the airspace over (familiar) Lake Michigan (see EFB Map and other external images) ...rapidly reaching the cruise level. At that point, however, I had to conclude the flight...been beckoned away from my pilot's duty...by the call-for-dinner...🙂...while (silently) hoping for the dinner to be served in the cockpit...🙂...after all this (FBW) ultra-modern a/c was flying along nicely by itself under its own autopilot control...Oh well... In the concluding few images below, I leave you with that special (suspended) feeling, at Flight Level 350, while speeding along and over Lake Michigan, just as the morning sun is rising brightly above the pristine waters of the eastern shoreline of the (Great) Lake. The A350 is now well under way towards the Canadian cities and provinces of Toronto, Montreal, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's etc... eager to get its feet wet and cross the (vast) expanse of the Atlantic Ocean...while my mind simultaneously drifts back in time to the (vivid) memories of my (past) RW travels...🙂... This Airbus A350-900 is powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. And, as far as I could tell, it flew without any issues on the first go, on my Xbox... (more study and attention due later...) ... I hope you enjoy this collection of images from my test flight today...! Thanks for viewing and happy flying...!

Yes, I hope they fix these (reported) WASM crashes soon enough...I know you like to fly it often...Nothing is a bummer more than a CTD at the end of an extra-long-haul flight...
