SU3 beta 1.15.19 : turbulence above FL 330

Featured Replies

The last 3 betas give a turbulence above FL 330 and the higher I fly the severe the turbulence gets.

I fly in Europe and it does not matter of there are mountains or not.

Using the default Live Weather. Going to a preset does not solve it.

Anyone experiencing this ?

nope. primarily zipping around Europe (right now KIAD KLGA though) in the Fenix BFU and no turbulence about 330, always with live weather

No turbulence here at FL 330 either. It starts when flying higher like FL 350 or FL 370. The higher the more severe it gets

The vid is at FL 350.

Perhaps a next flight you could try FL 370 and see what happens above FL 330.

Are you sure this is turbulence? It looks more like the autopilot is over correcting and induces the oscillations itself. Is it smooth when you turn of the AP and let go of the controls?

Doesn't looks like turbulence but the FD fighting itself. I had it some time ago with Fenix when it opened the displays app twice in the task manager.

Turn off the AP and check if its smooth.

Infortunately, with the FD off the same rocking left right above FL 330.

Anyone flying in Europe above FL 330 ?

will do in 10mins. again, any specific route?

EDIT will do EGLL EKCH, that gives me FL370 in the 320...

EDIT2 going right into it, still 6000 feet restricted...

Screenshot-2025-07-30-142104.png

EDIT3 all smooth on FL370....

Screenshot-2025-07-30-144733.png

EDIT4 descending into EKCH, there is some more wind now, little shaking but nothing which would concern me as wind on my level are variable and gusting around 12-20 kts:

Screenshot-2025-07-30-152122.png

EDIT5: approach and landing was wobbling due to winds/gusts but again, nothing what I would consider as turbulence and defintely not above FL330:

That's quite interesting. Aside from that, their airplanes fly like a kite in wind conditions. It would be beneficial to turn off the AP, as mentioned. Also, is there any CAT? What is interesting, though, if you had a CAT, you would notice that the wing rocking, not quite like that, but I don't get how the VSI is steady and has no variations at all. It does not add up.
