October 6, 200817 yr Hey all, seems like the problems with my new FSX installation don't seem to stop. After a few minutes into the flight, or even still at the gate, the airplane textures switch to flat black, most of the outside and most of the VC. Very random. It happens suddenly after changing the perspective. In all airplanes. Even on the "Free Flight" menu, after returning from the Settings menu, sometimes the preview airplane is already all black. I have rather conservative texture settings, 1m resolution, and besides AA and AF no changed settings within the driver.I am running a 8800M GTS (512MB) with ForceWare 167.63 - no overclocking - I would consider changing to a new driver, but I am (like always in the FSX world) afraid of performance loss, and I hope one of you might have a solution. BTW it is a fresh install of FSX with SP2.Thanks in advance, Robert, EDDF
October 6, 200817 yr Robert,Try a more recent driver. Create a restore point prior to installing the new driver and you may easily revert to your previous driver version.Ulf BCore2Duo X6800 3.3GHz4GB RAM Corsair XMS2-8500C5BFG 8800GTX, Creative SB X-FiFSX Acc/SP2, Vista 32
October 6, 200817 yr Can you recommend a driver version? I hear the new 179 doesn't work so well with FSX. I can get any version at laptopvideo2go.com (and have to, as it is a mobile card which isn't listed in the official release).
October 6, 200817 yr Many can use the new drivers just fine. However, the newest I can use is 169.25. Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
October 7, 200817 yr The newest drivers work OK for me, but not for others. You just have to try for yourself.Ulf BCore2Duo X6800 3.3GHz4GB RAM Corsair XMS2-8500C5BFG 8800GTX, Creative SB X-FiFSX Acc/SP2, Vista 32
October 7, 200817 yr I have now installted the latest (179.13) drivers, and they work like a charm! The errors are gone and I can see a 5% performance increase compared to the old drivers!
October 7, 200817 yr Author I would contact the manuf of the card. The latest may not be the best. I would also uninstall the drivers you have now and choose the vga 800x 600 Microsoft drivers (default) until you install the newer one.Joe W Joe Watson Lake Placid, Florida
