Question about Strobe/Beacon Lights after Addon Installation

Featured Replies

English translation.

Hi everyone, I bought the E175 and A220 from Virtualcol two days ago. However, after installation, the strobe lights, beacon lights, and all the lights at the airport look different on all freeware and AI planes. Does anyone know how to reset this? Deleting shaders and deleting the cfg files hasn't worked.

Hallo Hannes, I'm sure the Virtualcol birds overwrote the effects you had installed. There are 3 possible actions:

1) Repair P3D. However, this will reset all the files you had customized.

2) If you had installed either REX Texture Direct or Envtex, you can simply reinstall the preset.

3) Check the contents in each .cab file in the installers, and find the Effects folder. Extract that folder into the P3D main folder. This will revert the P3D effects to the default ones.

What version of P3D do you have?

Ich habe P3dV4.4+

Ok. I was going to suggest which CAB file to check, but unfortunately the files inside each CAB are somehow encrypted. That discards Option 3.

I'm guessing that the Virtualcol installers replaced your effects texture, specifically, fx_2.bmp.

The installer should have created a backup of the original texture if it replaced it.  Try looking in your effects/texture folder.

Yep that is different than the original.

You might have to run the uninstaller to get the original back, unless you can find where they backed it up(if they did).

This is sadly a known things with Virtualcol addons. They replace certain effect files, including the strobe and beacon effects. When I install Virtualcol planes, I install them in a separate folder (not into the sim) and then copy the folders into the sim one-by-one, excluding the effects folder. That way, the plane installs, but the lights stay the same.
