Early in V1 days for 2020 people were reporting crashes in the MCDU etc and it turned out people were trying to use RNP approaches. Their response was "the real aircraft doesn't support these and neither do we" basically. Also some fluff about that "of course the real aircraft won't show these to the pilots" but they decided not to filter them out in some way in MSFS but also not do anything to prevent issues if you selected it. They basically said you might get lucky and it will work or it will just crash. The kind with the arcs were supposed to definitely cause crashes. I don't know if they did anything in V2 to mitigate this issue though as I haven't flown it in a few years now. I'm pretty sure - these things can still fly RNAV approach in real life to LNAV minima, I think it is customer option where some operators do have it while others don't have it. Certainly they are not approved for LPV/RNP type approaches. I haven't tried any RNAV approaches yet but in V2 I still find LNAV tracking to be bit off especially when using direct to function.

Yeah that's why I said the RNP type and I think they were specifically talking about the RNP types that have the arc in them similar to a more traditional radio based approach that has a DME arc. In a sim setting though they need to have some way to keep a user from either using those or just prevent the aircraft systems from freezing/crashing if the user does pick one. Instead, at least during the v1 days it would potentially crash the systems (or maybe the sim itself? I never tried one just read about the issues and it's been a while) and their response was the typical Aerosoft at the time of "the airplane can't do those, it's on you to know that and not pick them".
