Aerosoft CRJ V2

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of picking up CRJ V2 for MSFS as I want to do some regional jet flying and CRJ fits in quite nicely. However knowing Aerosoft and their recent history with product quality with MSFS - I'm bit sceptical in making any purchases from them. Back on P3D I owned their CRJ and it was reasonable and flyable certainly not PMDG or Fenix quality but it was still fun to fly. There were still numerous bugs which aerosoft never bothered to fix either.

What do you people think about CRJ V2 - is it worth it? What about FMS - does it have advanced features like RNP approach capability or holds..etc?

Aerosoft typically is pretty bad but this one is an exception (once they finally got it to the V2.0 standard).   It's a good product.   Regarding the "advanced" features, I can't recall but keep in mind, the real thing was very basic.  No autothrottle, no VNAV, etc.    I enjoy flying it, makes for a nice break from a highly automated jet like the A320.  You actually have to do some of that piloting thing.

It's my plane of choice - I absolutely love flying it. v2 is a massive upgrade from v1. "Your flightsim CFI" youtuber and real world CRJ pilot worked with Hans to get this plane to where it is today. Yes it has no autothrottle  but there is  an option for VNAV if you so wish as some CRJ 1000's do have the VNAV feature. The flight dynamics are great - I love handflying this plane. Systems have also been improved upon. Ideal if you like making quick and short flights. Go ahead and buy - its not very expensive at all.

I get my best frame rates with this aircraft in both msfs 2020 and 2024, great plane.

I also purchased the CRJ for P3D some years back, but I never really flew it, because it had too many bugs and the overall experience was just lackluster. Then the MSFS version dropped, which was somewhat improved, but still not very enjoyable. This was followed by the release of Boris Audio Works' (payware) soundpack, which made the CRJ at least sound like the real thing, thereby increasing the immersion quite a lot. Then came the V2 release and another update. Long story short, in its current state, the Aerosoft CRJ is finally enjoyable all around, and I fly it quite a lot now.

It's not on top compared to fenix or pmdg, but since V2 it's a good product...and somehow fills a niche...I like it. Simbrief integration is also done. Hope they still will refine it with all the input from cfi 😎💪

Have you considered the FlightFX Citation X?  It really is a fantastic aircraft and can cruise at over mach .9 😉

Thanks everyone - I'll get it, I'll also get the Borris sound upgrade to add additional immersion.

I like the plane now.  I have stretches where I fly it alot, and others where I don't.  It's not on Maddog, PMDG, Fenix level.  But it's a solid upper middle tier plane.

You know, the Just Flight RJ & BAe are amazing and a great sub to the CRJ.

It cannot do RNP.  Early in V1 days for 2020 people were reporting crashes in the MCDU etc and it turned out people were trying to use RNP approaches.  Their response was "the real aircraft doesn't support these and neither do we" basically.  Also some fluff about that "of course the real aircraft won't show these to the pilots" but they decided not to filter them out in some way in MSFS but also not do anything to prevent issues if you selected it.  They basically said you might get lucky and it will work or it will just crash.  The kind with the arcs were supposed to definitely cause crashes.  I don't know if they did anything in V2 to mitigate this issue though as I haven't flown it in a few years now.

I have had the V1 for years and enjoyed it. V2 is just that much nicer and well worth the money. It has evolved nicely.

I just bought the CRJ V2 from Aerosoft for MSFS 2024, but when I select it, the thumbnail shows an MSFS 2020 label. I watched some videos on YouTube, and others didn’t have the MSFS 2020 label. Did I miss something? Are there any differences between the 2020 and 2024 versions? I installed the add-on through the Aerosoft One app.
