October 25, 2025Oct 25 Airbus A320 | Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) RW16 | Precision Landing Challenge | MSFS 2024 You are on short final and the aircraft is not configured. No ILS. Very, very tough (for me at least). Is this why we don't see real airline pilots fly these challenges? Would pay to see a real pilot try these challenges. October 25, 2025Oct 25 Curios as to why you didn't use the ILS or other instrument approaches for the 16L/R runway or was this generated in the Sim - a more challenging non precision approach to YSSY would be the 07/25 which is considerably shorter - no room for errors on this one YBCG

Often with engines flamed out so you hacve to light them. It doesn't let you put the ILS frequency into the Nav Radio. You would have to put this into the FMC. The goal of the challenge is to hand fly a VFR approach with no ILS. October 26, 2025Oct 26 Fair enough, it definitely would be challenging. A captain would have earned his salary in the event of this happening. Edited October 26, 2025Oct 26 by JustanotherPilot YBCG

Your question about ILS is a good one. The inibuilds A320 doesn't let you put the ILS frequency into the NAV radio. You have to do it by the FMC as I mentioned earlier. The Fenix A3XX does allow inputting an ILS frequency into the NAV radio. For this reason, I bought the Fenix A3XX. Interestingly, the Asobo 737 Max allows an ILS frequency into NAV radio. On the Nagasaki 737 challenge, I did get the NAV frequency in quick to attemtp an ILS landing. But MS starts you high and fast so you are chasing the glide slope with a drive and dive, and can't get stabilized. Here is my Nagasaki challenge. I got the NAV frequency done by the 16 second mark but it only helped for centre line accuracy using the LOC. There was a 30 knot crosswind. The ASOBO 737 is twitchy AF.
