P3Dv5.3 + Pro-ATC/X

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm encountering an issue with the above combination.

Everything runs smoothly until I get the descend instruction from Pro-ATC/X. The simulation immediately stutters intermittently for +/- 15 seconds. When de-activating Pro-ATC/X at that point, I get no more stutters.

It is not aircraft related as I have tried several types all with the same result. Am using Windows 11 Pro and have set Pro-ATC/X to run in high priority mode but this has made no difference.

Any advise / tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

Herman

It's most likely saturation of the Simconnect interface stream.  If it isn't already disabled, you might try disabling the Nagle algorithm in the simconnect.xml file (and simconnect.cfg if operating over a LAN).  That causes the network driver to save up packets until either a full frame is ready for transmission or a timer expires--if PATC/X is sending/receiving a big gulp of data concurrent with that descent instruction it might account for it.  Fiddling with the CPU priority won't fix that.

Also, if running PATC/X on the same PC as the sim, you can set the protocol to "pipe" to bypass firewall and A/V interference.

See: https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv5/sdk/simconnect_api/configuration_files/configuration_files_overview.html

P3D can be a bit limited in available simconnect bandwidth.  If you're also running other complex add-ons, they all have to share the available bandwidth, and it can get saturated during periods of intense I/O activity.

Thank you, Bob. I'll take a look at the point made in your explanation.

Cheers,

Bob, just some feedback on the steps taken...

Tried it and unfortunately did not work. In fact, after making step by step adjustments to the Simcconect. xml file, Pro-ATC/ X would spontaneously terminate during taxiing or flight.

Had left a request for support on the Pointsoftware Pro-ATC forum but the are totally unresponsive!

In thr meantime, I've decided to abandon Pro-ATC/X for Pilot2ATC. Would have contemplated purchasing Pro-ATC/SR, however, with the lack of response expressed via their support forum, it led to an easy choice to move away from their product.

Again, Bob, thanks for your above response.
