January 5Jan 5 I’’ve read posts. I’ve watched tutorials. But no matter what I do, I cannot bind the Learjet 35 pitch trimming functions to my joystick (Thrustmaster T1600/TWCS). The tutorials say that the Pitch trim barrel switch on the left side of the yoke should be bound to INCREASE AP PITCH HOLD REFERENCE and DECREASE AP PITCH HOLD REFERENCE. So I bind the two buttons that I normally use for trimming up/down on every other aircraft to those commands. It does nothing. (I understand that AP has to be off.) Then the tutorials say the barrel switch only works if the center button is depressed. But I have yet to find a function in the default controls menu that activates that center button. I see instructions about The Smoke On/Smoke Off, and Tailhook commands but they only affect the nose steering/AP on-off when I bind them. Nothing activates/depresses that little center button on the barrel switch. So as much as I love this jet, I cannot trim it. I can manually control the barrel switch with the mouse (and even then when I press the center button it does not show it depressing). Surely I am missing something…? Trimming is a basic function and should not require multiple switches, correct?
January 5Jan 5 You have to toggle "G Limiter." I use "Elev trim dn and elev trim up" for switches using Spad.Next.
January 5Jan 5 GREYSPIDER, you may be confusing the Pitch Hold and Pitch Trim functions. Pitch Hold adjusts the aircraft pitch (nose up/down position) when the AP is in Pitch Hold. The AP is in pitch hold when ENG is on (AP on) and no other vertical mode (such as IAS, VS or ALTHLD) is on. It is activated by moving the barrel up or down WITHOUT also holding in the hat switch that is on the end of the barrel. The bindings INCREASE/DECREASE AP PITCH HOLD REFERENCE work for Pitch Hold. Pitch Trim works when the AP is off. Pitch Trim works by moving the barrel up and down while also holding in the hat switch on the end of the barrel (which is difficult to do with the mouse). And note that STEER LOCK much be off for pitch trim to work. The bindings ELEVATOR TRIM UP/DOWN work for Pitch Trim. Moving the pitch trim should also turn off the AP if it is on, so whatever keys/buttons you use for pitch trim should also be assigned to turn off the AP. Al Edited January 5Jan 5 by ark
January 5Jan 5 — STEER LOCK BUTTON 2 (ORANGE BUTTON ON LHS OF YOKE) — STEER BUTTON : {bound to} : G LIMITER ON (ON PRESS) STEER BUTTON : {bound to} : G LIMITER OFF (ON RELEASE) FUNCTION: Orange yoke button is a STEER ENABLE function while pressed when on the ground, and disables steering on release. Note: It is an AP disengage button/function when airborne.
