Featured Replies

Hi Everybody,

Just wondering what everyone is using for their monitors and if there are any advantages in using particular settings.

Default or Nvidia settings? - I use Nvidia
Desktop Color Depth? - I use Highest 32 bit
Output Color Format? - I use RGB
Output Color Depth? - I use 12 bpc
Output Dynamic Range? - I use Full

Thanks

MSFS supports max 10-bit color depth when HDR10 is enabled.  Most textures are actually 8-bit color depth.

XPlane12 doesn't support 10-bit or 12-bit output, the engine support HDR rendering but you don't see true 10bit or 12bit output.

Pending your monitors, YCbCr 4:4:4 might produce better image quality than RGB or VISA versa ... really depends on the monitor/TV.

When changing output color the TV/Monitor may "save" adjustments in it's internal memory and in most cases each format type will need to be adjusted to look correct.

I had a setup similar to yours: 4 monitors, all from the same manufacturer and the same size. I used the default Nvidia settings. Although my monitors were identical, I had to adjust each one separately. For some reason, colors, brightness, and sharpness did not work well in Nvidia. It took lots of time before I got it right. I hope you have good insurance, as it helped me when my garage caught fire and burned to the ground.
